NEET PG 2021: Supreme Court issues notice on petition alleging score discrepancies
Supreme Court of India has issued a notice on the petition alleging discrepancies in NEET PG 2021 scores and the number of attempted questions reflected during the examination is not the same as the marks reflected in the scorecard.
A group of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021 candidates filed a petition in the top court alleging that there are serious discrepancies in the scores and also the number of attempted questions as shown on the computer at the end of the paper is not as same as reflected in the scorecard.
The petitioners had appeared for NEET PG 2021 on September 11, 2021, and the results were declared on September 28, 2021.
As per the petitioners, there is a huge discrepancy in the expected and actual scores. Also, the National Board of Examination (NBE) has not disclosed the summary of questions attempted/not attempted in NEET PG 2021.
The petition reads, "It is most humbly submitted that in absence of the said record, it is impossible for the candidates to have any record, whatsoever for the number of attempted and not attempted questions. It is most humbly submitted that the candidates after the disclosure of their scores, in absence of any record of the exam are left in a miserable and a helpless state. Act of Respondent No. 1 by not releasing the answer key and the question paper for NEET PG 2021 is manifestly arbitrary. The Petitioners and similarly placed candidates have also challenged arbitrary action on part of Respondent No. 1 is not providing the candidates with the option of revaluation or rechecking, in case of discrepancy in their scores," as reported by Live Law.
The petitioners have urged Supreme Court for direction to NBE for the following:
- To provide details of correct and incorrect questions.
- To release question paper and answer key of the petitioners and similarly placed candidates.
- To allow the option of revaluation/rechecking in case of discrepancy in scores.
- To declare Clause 9.7 and 10.4 of NEET PG Information Bulleting, 2021 as unconstitutional as it deprives candidates of their fundamental right to know.
- To allow candidates with an option to raise a challenge in the answer key in case of disputed questions.
- Create transparency in the evaluation process for current and future NEET PG candidates by providing answer keys, question papers and options of revaluation.
