NBE reiterated the Centre's stand that to bring the academic calendar of PG medical courses back on track which got derailed a few months due to the Covid pandemic, a consulted decision has been taken regarding the schedule of NEET PG examination and conduct of counselling. The exam will be held in 277 cities in India.

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has sent a letter to Dr Rohan Krishnan, National President Federation of All India Medical Association in response to a representation regarding the postponement of NEET PG 2023 dated January 24, 2023. The letter stated that the exam will be conducted on March 5, 2023, in 277 cities across India. 

"The schedule for holding NEET PG 2023 on March 5, 2023 was notified on NBEMS website vide NBEMS notice dated Septemeber 16, 2022, almost six months before the conduct of examination, thereby giving ample time to the candidate to prepare," reads NBE's letter.

The letter highlighted that 2,09,029 candidates have applied for the NEET PG 2023 to be held in 277 cities at 902 test centres. The preparations for the examination are started well in advance and the progress of preparations is highly dependent on the date of conduct of the examination.

"In order to bring the academic calendar of PG medical courses back on track which got derailed by few months due to Covid pandemic, a consultant decision has been taken regarding the schedule of NEET PG examination and conduct of counselling," added NBE's letter.

Dr Rohan's tweet reads, "Received this letter from #NBE in response to our request of Postponement of NEET PG to @MoHFW_INDIA. We wish this could have been handled in a much better way."
