The path to commence (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ) NEET-PG Counselling 2021 had too many roadblocks. Finally, the counselling has started today, on January 12. However, many students have claimed that the website is still not responsive. There was no official statement from Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on this delay. Now, MCC has notified on its official website that the registration payment facility for Round 1 will start at 2 pm today.

The last date of registration for NEET-PG Counselling 2021 is January 17, up to 3 pm.

This year, MCC will conduct four rounds under All India Quota (AIQ) comprising Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up and stray vacancy round. Earlier, the committee used to conduct only two rounds under AIQ hence this year no seat will be reverted back to the state after the second round of counselling.

From this academic session onwards, 27% of seats are reserved for the Other Backward Class (OBC) and 10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as approved by the Centre on July 29.

The counselling process could begin after Supreme Court's final order on plea challenging these reservations announced by the Centre last year. Also, this year EWS category will be determined based on INR 8 lakh annual income criteria. Supreme Court upheld the reservations announced by the Centre and observed that NEET-PG Counselling 2021 must begin in national interest considering the need for more doctors amid the increasing Covid-19 cases.
