Last week, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reduced to NEET-PG 2023 Cut-off to zero percentile, for candidates to be eligible for counselling across all categories.

The Supreme Court will take up the plea related to the NEET-PG Cut-off reduction at the end of the board today. A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court today, challenging the reduction of the NEET-PG cut-off to zero percentile.

The Supreme Court while responding to a plea filed against the NEET-PG cut-off reduction has decided to take it up at the end of the board. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud while enquiring about the petitioner in the case, on how the petitioner who is a lawyer, knows about the cut-off for NEET-PG, mentioned that the Court will take up the matter at the end of the board.

The petition has been filed challenging the Union Health Ministry's decision to reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to zero.

Last week, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reduced to NEET-PG 2023 Cut-off to zero percentile, for candidates to be eligible for counselling across all categories.

As per the ministry, reducing the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to zero will increase the pool of qualifying candidates but not dilute the merit system for admission to PG medical courses.
Ministry officials clarified that it will not happen that students with zero percentile can also become specialist doctors. Students with the highest marks will be eligible for admission to their choice of courses and colleges.

There are over 68,000 post-graduate medical seats in the country and till now, candidates scoring above the 50 percentile were eligible to participate in the NEET-PG counselling. Last year, the qualifying criteria were kept at the 20 percentile, despite that around 3000 seats remained vacant under the all-India quota and some seats under the state quota also remained vacant.
