NMC warns Medicos against Chairman Impersonation Scam

NMC highlighted an impersonation scam, where a mobile number is impersonating the Commission's Chairman Dr. B. N. Gangadhar.

National Medical Commission has released a public notice to tell the general public that the NMC Chairman Dr. B. N. Gangadhar is being impersonated by a mobile number - +919062719187 which does not belong to him.

"It has come to our attention that an individual with the mobile number +919062719187 is impersonating Dr. B. N. Gangadhar, Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC). It is to be informed that this mobile number does not belong to Dr. B. N. Gangadhar, Chairman, NMC," says the official statement of NMC.

The public is advised not to engage in any conversation with the person using the mobile number +919062719187, claiming to be Dr. B. N. Gangadhar. Any individual taking cognizance or acting on such conversations does so at their own risk. This notice is issued to safeguard the public from any misinformation and to prevent any unauthorized activities carried out by the impersonator, added NMC. 

NMC time and again warned about fake notifications and letters. Earlier the Commission had also warned about a fake letter circulating regarding a CPS Diploma Course. The Commission had noticed that a fake letter was circulating dated May 29, 2023, with the signature of the Under Secretary, PGMEB regarding students under training examination and recognition. 

The letter stated that the student who passes the CPS exam will be allotted 6 months of training in the institute under NBEMS. After completing 6 months of training NBEMS will conduct a Final Examination according to its own pattern and only those who will clear the Final Examination will be recognized by NMC or their Respective state’s SMC.
