After the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in Parliament that NEET PG 2023 will not be postponed and will be held on March 5, 2023, the doctors' protest is going on to demand the exam deferment. Doctors have called for an OPD shutdown and a complete shutdown of services is expected later on. FAIMA National Chairman also met Mansukh Mandaviya and demanded postponement.
Even after the Central government made it clear that they are not planning to postpone NEET PG 2023, and the exam will be held only on March 5, 2023, the protesting doctors continue to demand exam deferment. The doctors have called OPD shutdown now and next, they are also planning a complete shutdown of medical services.
Dr Rohan Krishnan, National Chairman of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), met Mansukh Mandaviya on February 11, 2023, and requested him to postpone NEET PG 2023.
"Met Honourable @mansukhmandviya Sir & President NBE and have requested both of them to consider Pleas of students and Postpone NEET PG. Sir has requested students to focus on their studies. Let’s hope for the best. NBE and Ministry will do smth fr us. Thanks," reads his tweet.
"Re requesting @mansukhmandviya Sir, to consider Postponement of NEET PG 23 to May-June. It will help the aspirants utilise the time & study. @MoHFW_INDIA. Aspirants, should study with full focus. Court proceedings are also happening. Don’t indulge in unnecessary rumours!," he said in another tweet.
The protesting students even demanded the health minister to step down.
One of the related tweets reads, "@mansukhmandviya ji kindly reconsider your decision of #NEETPG23 postponement or Step down as HM if you cannot understand the Pain of thousands of NEETPG Aspirants."
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Junior Doctors' Network Odisha on February 10 again requested for NEET PG 2023 postponement.
"We IMA-JDN, ODISHA kindly request you to postpone NEET PG 2023 by 2-3 months, keeping it in month of May/June providing more time for students to study rather than wasting it in waiting for counselling. The doctors have called for an OPD shutdown and a complete shutdown of medical services is expected later on.
