The case, involving 19 petitioners against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), centers on concerns about serious marking issues, inconsistencies in the release of results, and the overall conduct of the examination.

The Supreme Court today postponed the hearing of the NEET PG 2024 case to Monday, September 30, after listening to arguments surrounding alleged discrepancies in the examination process and a lack of transparency. The case, involving 19 petitioners against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), centers on concerns about serious marking issues, inconsistencies in the release of results, and the overall conduct of the examination.

The hearing was presided over by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice Manoj Misra. The bench acknowledged the receipt of NBEMS' reply but emphasized that the Union of India (UOI) must be represented in the matter, as no one from the UOI appeared for today's hearing. "Let the Union of India appear," the CJI remarked, adding that the presence of an Additional Solicitor General (ASG) would be required on Monday to assist the court.

One of the petitioners' counsel informed the bench that the NEET PG counseling process is slated to begin at 5 PM today. Despite this, the court opted to adjourn the hearing, ensuring that the UOI would be represented before further deliberations are made.

This case, which has attracted widespread attention, stems from growing concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET PG 2024 exam process. In previous hearings, the petitioners highlighted issues like score normalization, the absence of official answer keys, and transparency problems that have caused distress among candidates. The Supreme Court had previously issued notices to the NBEMS and UOI, demanding a response to these allegations.

As the case progresses, the outcome of Monday's hearing will be critical for over two lakh NEET PG candidates, who are anxiously awaiting clarity on the transparency and fairness of the examination process.
