Migration of Indian medical students to abroad: PM Modi blames previous government
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has blamed the previous governments for the large number of Indian medical students going abroad to study medicine.
The issue of a large number of Indian medical students going abroad has come to the light after many Indian medical students were found stranded in Ukraine. While interacting with students who returned to Uttar Pradesh from the war-hit Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has blamed the previous governments for the migration of Indian medical students abroad.
He also told the students that his government is working to increase the number of medical colleges in India, so that the students can enrol in medical courses here in India.
PM Modi also empathised with the students and their families who are stranded in Ukraine and expressed their anger at the Prime Minister after facing hardships in Ukraine. He said, the Indians are facing hardships in Ukraine and braving cold and hence it is natural for them to feel angry in this crisis. Once they are no longer agitated and understand the magnitude of the evacuation process being carried out under Operation Ganga, they will show their affection as well, as reported by India Today.
A Strong India is answer to these troubles: PM Modi
He said to the students that no parents want their kids to go overseas at such young age, and if medical education policies were right earlier, then you would not have to go to overseas for studying medicine. Our government is working to correct the past mistakes, he added.
He said, earlier there were 300 to 400 medical colleges, and now it has gone up to 700. The number of seats has also gone up to 1.5 lakh from earlier 80,000-90,000.
