NIT Srinagar launches training program on Bio-Medical devices
The course is designed to cater to the needs of doctors, teachers, scientists from R & D houses, and labs to make a revolution in medical treatment, according to Dr Sheikh Gulam Mohammed.
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar commenced a week-long Short Term Training Program (STTP) on Bio-medical devices: design and manufacturing began on June 23, 2022. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of NIT Srinagar os organizing the training program sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
The course is designed to cater to the needs of doctors, teachers, scientists from R & D houses, and labs to make a revolution in medical treatment, according to Dr Sheikh Gulam Mohammed.
The inaugural session was presided over by Professor A M Bhat, Former Principal, Regional Engineering College (REC), now NIT Srinagar, while Director NIT Srinagar, Professor (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal was 'Guest of Honor' on the occasion.
Professor Bhat during his presidential remarks talked about the transformation of NIT Srinagar’campus into an educational hub. NIT Srinagar is a leading institute in north India not only in terms of skill-oriented education but placements as well, he said.
"I am overwhelmed to see the campus after the gap of many years. From classrooms to modern laboratories there is development everywhere. I congratulate Director Prof. Rakesh Sehgal and Registrar Professor Syed Kaiser Bukhari for making NIT Srinagar a vibrant campus," the professor added.
On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Professor Sehgal talked about the importance of the institute’s development than the development of individuals. We are committed to serve society through technology and ease the living of common people, he said.
In the inaugural address, Dean Research & Consultancy, Professor (HAG) MF Wani congratulated the Director NIT Srinagar Professor Sehgal, HOD MED, and coordinators for choosing a relevant theme for the workshop, that is the need of the hour.
HOD, MED, S. Nazir Ahmad said the department is lucky that they have the facility of Rapid prototyping, so far as its field is concerned. It is an advanced technique of manufacturing.
"There are lots of challenges in rapid prototyping at present, of course, researchers and manufacturers have to overcome those limitations," he said.
Sharing a vote of thanks, the Coordinator, Dr M Mursaleen explained the students about the evaluation pattern of the workshop and eligibility for successful completion. The inaugural session was moderated and hosted by Dr Dinesh Kumar R from NIT Srinagar.
Resource persons for the course are highly experienced faculty members from reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, and research organizations.
