Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release NDA 2 notification 2023 on May 17, 2023. The application form will be available from May 17 to June 6, 2023. NDA notification comprises details related to the eligibility criteria, how to apply, and others.

NDA syllabus for different subjects are given below: Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus,  Matrices and Determinants,  Integral Calculus and  Differential Equations, Trigonometry,  Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and  Probability.  GAT: The GAT syllabus of NDA is divided into two parts. Part A comprises questions from English, while Part B carries questions from General Knowledge. Questions in English part are asked from Grammar and Usage, Vocabulary,  Comprehension, and Cohesion. Questions in General Knowledge are asked from Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, General Science, Geography, and Current Events.

Questions in NDA current affairs are asked from Knowledge of Important events that have happened in India in the recent years, Prominent personalities—both Indian and International including those connected with cultural activities and sports, Current important world events, etc.

NDA eligibility criteria is given below:

For NDA 1 exam, both male and female candidates must have been born not earlier than July 2, 2004, and not later than July 1, 2007. For NDA 2 exam, both male and female candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 2004, and not later than January 1, 2007.

For Army Wing of National Defence Academy, candidates must have passed Class 12/HSC or equivalent from a recognised board or university

For Air Force, Navy, and Naval Academy of National Defence Academy, candidates must have passed Class 12/HSC with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

A total of 395 vacancies have been announced for the recruitment exam. Out of the total vacancies, 19 are for women candidates. NDA selection process comprises written exam and SSB interview.

Candidates are required to score a minimum of around 25 per cent marks in each subject to clear the NDA written exam. The total marks allotted to the written exam are 900. Besides the subject-wise cut off marks, the examination authority also decides overall cut off marks for different defence services. Candidates are required to secure both section-wise and overall cut off marks. To be in the final merit list, candidates are required to secure separate qualifying marks in the written exam and SSB interview.

NDA marking scheme is prescribed by UPSC. The marking scheme highlights the marks awarded for correct answers and marks deducted for wrong answers. In Maths 2.5 marks are awarded for correct answers and 0.83 marks are deducted for wrong answers. In GAT four marks are awarded for correct answers and 1.33 marks are deducted for the wrong answers. The score of the written exam is calculated out of 900 marks. The examination authority calculates the scores of candidates based on the marking scheme.

SSB Interview call letter is made available after candidates register on the recruiting army website to select the date, time, and centre. After that candidates can download call letter for SSB interview.

NDA 1 2023 marksheets will be released within 15 days from the date of publication of final result. The marksheet will remain available on the website for a period of 30 days.

Candidates are also requested to submit original certificates of Age and Educational Qualification to respective Service Selection Boards (SSBs) during the SSB interview.” The candidates must not send the Original Certificates to the Union Public Service Commission. 

GAT paper of NDA comprises a total of 150 questions. The GAT section is divided into two parts. Part A comprises English while Part B consists of General Knowledge. The number of questions in the Maths section of NDA exam is 120. Questions in the Maths section are asked from Algebra Calculus, Matrices and Determinants Integral Calculus and Differential Equations Trigonometry Vector Algebra Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and Probability. NDA question papers are framed in both English and Hindi by the examination authority.

NDA exam is conducted offline across various cities spread throughout the country. The exam is conducted in two shifts-morning and afternoon. The Maths paper is held in the morning shift- 10:00 AM-12:30 PM and GAT is held in the afternoon shift from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM. Candidates are required to appear in both the shifts. The total marks allotted to the exam are 900. Candidates need to secure 25 per cent in each paper.

The SSB Interview is divided into two stages. Candidates qualifying theStage 1 are called for the Stage 2 exam. Stage 1 of the SSB Interview comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). Stage 2 comprises Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference. This stage carries 900 marks.

The candidature of all the selected candidates is provisional. Candidates are required to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website joinindianarmy.nic.in within two
weeks. The successful candidates would then be allotted Selection Centers and dates, of SSB interview. The same will be communicated to candidates on their registered email ID.

There are multiple allowances offered to the Officers along with NDA salary such as Uniform Allowance, Dearness and Transport Allowance, Para Reserve Allowance, Technical Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Hostel Subsidy, High Altitude Allowance, etc. The Army Aviators (Pilots) in Lt and above in Level 10 and above serving in the Army Aviation Corps are entitled to flying allowance of INR 25,000 (R1H1 of Risk and Hardship Matrix).

The final merit list is prepared based on the following factors:

• A single combined merit list is prepared based on the total marks secured by candidates in the written exam and SSB Interview
• The final allocation/selection for admission to the Army, Navy, Air Force of the National Defence Academy and 10 2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy is done as per the number of vacancies subjected to candidates' eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference
• While allocation/selection to one service/course, they will not be considered for admission to other remaining services/courses

After completion of the SSB Interview, selected candidates are be called for medical screening where their physical fitness required is assessed by the Medical Officer.

NDA qualifying marks are 25 per cent in each subject. The GAT paper is conducted for 600 marks wherein candidates must secure at least 150 marks to qualify. The NDA Mathematics paper is of 300 marks where they need to secure 75 marks to qualify.

UPSC releases NDA 1 scorecard 2023 after the completion of the selection process. NDA scorecard contains the name of the candidate and sectional and their overall scores. Candidates must note that the NDA 2023 scorecard will only be available for download for 30 days from the date of its release.

Qualified candidates for the written exam are required to appear in the SSB Interview. The exam is a two-stage process based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test. All selected candidates are required to appear first in Stage 1. Only those candidates who qualify the Stage 1 are selected for Stage 2. Candidates who qualify for Stage 2 are required to submit the original certificates along with one photocopy of each original Class 10 pass certificate and Original 10 2 pass certificate.

• In General Ability Test (GAT), candidates get four marks for correct answers
• In the Mathematics section, for correct answers candidates score 2.5 marks
• For wrong answers, 0.33 marks are deducted
