To qualify NDA exam, candidates need to secure the overall and section-wise qualifying marks or cutoff marks in the exam. Candidates need to secure 25 per cent in each section. NDA selection process for written exam comprises two papers-Maths and GAT. Total marks allotted to this paper are 900. Candidates need to secure 25 per cent in each subject as qualifying marks. Besides, candidates need to clear the cut off marks fixed by UPSC for written exam. Based on the performance in the written exam, candidates are selected for SSB interview.

NDA selection process comprises written exam and SSB interview. The written exam of NDA comprises two subjects-Maths and GAT. The total marks allotted to the written exam are 900. • Air Force Cadets receive flying training for a period of 1½ years. However, at the end of one year of successful training, they are given provisional commission in the rank of Flying Officer. After the Air Force Cadets successfully complete further training of six months they are absorbed as permanent commissioned officers on probation for a period of one year

• Air Force Ground Duties Branch Cadets receive streamwise specialist training for one year. After the successful completion of training, they are given a provisional commission in the rank of Flying Officer. They are further absorbed as permanent commissioned officers on probation of one year

• On passing out from the NDA, Naval cadets are selected for the Executive Branch of the Navy, and are also given further training at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala for one year and, on successful completion of the training, they are promoted to the rank of Sub Lieutenants

• Candidates who are selected for the Naval Academy under (Class 12 Cadet Entry Scheme) are inducted as Cadets for four year B Tech course in Applied Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (for Engineering Branch including Naval Architect specialization) or Electronics & Communication Engineering (for Electrical Branch) as per Naval requirements. After the candidates complete the course they are awarded B Tech Degree by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)

• After the Army Cadets pass out from NDA, they go to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Naval Cadets to Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Air Force cadets and Ground Duty-Non Tech streams to Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, and Air Force cadets of Ground Duty–Tech stream to Air Force Technical College, Bengaluru

• At the IMA Army Cadets are known as Gentlemen Cadets and are given arduous military training which is for one year and it is aimed at turning them into officers capable of leading infantry Subunits. After the Cadets have successfully completed the training as Gentlemen Cadets they are granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lt subject to being medically fit in "SHAPE" one

NDA written examination is divided into two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both papers feature objective-type questions, totaling 270 questions in the entire exam. Specifically, the Mathematics paper comprises 120 questions, while the GAT paper contains 150 questions. The total marks allocated for the NDA exam is 900 marks. The difficulty level of the NDA exam is usually moderate. Candidates can crack the exam with good preparation.

The structure of NDA exam pattern is given below.

NDA written exam is divided into parts, GAT and Mathematics. All the questions in the exam will be objective type. There will be a total of 150 questions in GAT while the Mathematics part will carry a total of 120 questions. Each section of the exam will be held for 2 ½ hours. The GAT section will be for 600 marks while the Mathematics section will carry 300 marks. The GAT section is divided into two parts. Part A comprises English while Part B consists of General Knowledge. 

The use of any mobile phone, pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches etc. or camera or blue tooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the examination is strictly prohibited.

The following items are allowed inside the exam centre:

• Clipboard or hardboard (on which nothing is written)
• Good quality Black Ball Pen for marking responses on the Answer Sheet

Candidates should note that any omission/mistakes/discrepancy in encoding/filling of details in the OMR answer sheet, especially about Roll Number and Test Booklet Series Code, will render the answer sheet liable for rejection, as mentioned the official notification.
