UPSC IAS Essay Paper 2022

UPSC IAS main exam started on September 16 with the Essay paper. This year, the Union Public Service Commission did not ask about any topics from the Indian Political Scene, Indian Economy, India’s leadership at the world forum or any other contemporary issues.

UPSC IAS essay 2022 paper is surprising. It did not ask directly or indirectly about the perennial issues of women empowerment, poverty in India, Child labour, Economic growth, Sectors of growth, information technology revolution and its byproducts and the like. Instead of it, the UPSC essay papers ask philosophical questions in the paper. IAS 2022 exam will conclude on September 25.

Candidates were asked to write two essays of 1000-1200 words within the time limit of three hours. Two sections were having four options each. The candidates were required to choose one topic from each question to write the essay.

Instructions: Write two essays, choosing one topic from each of Section A and B, in about 1000-1200 words each:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       125x2=250

1. Forests are the best case studies for economic excellence

2. Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world

3 . History is a series of victories won by the scientific man over romantic man

4. A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ship is for

                                                                         Section B

5. The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining

6. You cannot step twice in the same river

7. A smile is the chosen vehicle for all ambiguities

8. Just because you have a choice, it does not mean that any of them has to be right

The candidates who can link the above philosophical sayings to contemporary issues can score better in the exam. For example, topic 5 can be linked to the demographic dividend of the nation, flood-related preparations, efficient water management, environment planning for economic planning and development and the like.
