BHU Professor Anil Kumar Tripathi Appointed as Director of IISER Mohali

Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi was appointed to Banaras Hindu University in 1990 and has also been appointed to teach at DDU Gorakhpur University from 2002-2004. Further, he has served as the Director of the Institute of Science, BHU, from February 2019 to January 2024.

Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi, School of Biotechnology, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, has been appointed the Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali. With tremendous teaching experience, Prof. Tripathi is a senior professor with over 40 years of research experience. He was appointed to Banaras Hindu University in 1990 and has also been appointed to teach at DDU Gorakhpur University from 2002-2004. He later served as the Director of the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) from February 2014 to January 2019. Further, he has served as the Director of the Institute of Science, BHU, from February 2019 to January 2024.

Prof. Tripathi Holds Numerous Prestigious Fellowships and Awards

Besides leading numerous research projects, he has been actively involved in administrative as well as academic decision-making at BHU. With an involvement in over 22 PhD theses, he has received prestigious fellowships and awards for his contribution to the research field. To name a few, J C Bose National Fellowship, CSIR Technology Award in Life Science, Dr Rajendra Prasad Oration Award, ISCA Young Scientist Award by Indian Science Congress, Bangalore, and UGC Career Award in Biotechnology, top the list. 

He is also a part of leading Science Academies of the country including the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian Academy of Science (IASc), Bangalore, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) and National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad.

Contribution to Research Papers

Prof. Tripathi has also contributed to research papers in India and overseas. He has expertise in Functional Genomics, Systems biology, Bacterial Genetics and Synthetic Biology. 

As the director of IISER Mohali, his appointment has been made for a five-year tenure.
