Mahatma Gandhi Central University has announced the approval of seed money, INR 2 Lakh each to 46 research proposals under the Research Promotion Scheme.

This announcement underscores the university's dedication to fostering a vibrant culture of research and innovation. It reflects our belief in the transformative power of academic inquiry and our commitment to providing the necessary resources for our faculty members and researchers to explore new frontiers of knowledge, said the university's official statement.

Seed money sanction conditions

This sanction is subject to the following conditions in addition to the terms stipulated in the Research Promotion Scheme guidelines:

1. Those faculty who are on leave, will be able to avail benefits under this scheme, only after they re-join the University. However, they are hereby conveyed in-principle approval of their proposal. Further, if a faculty proceeds on a long leave after availing of the scheme, she/he will not utilize the amount during the leave period. However, once she/he joins back, may continue availing benefits under the scheme w.e.f. their date of joining.

2. All the PIs will have to submit a request for advance and a revised budget (if their previous budget estimate was not in line with the breakup mentioned in the policy guidelines) by February 08, 2024. As per policy guidelines, the grant of INR 2.0 Lakhs may be utilized as follows:

a. INR 1.5 Lakhs for Minor equipment, books, journals and software(perpetual license)

b. INR 0.5 Lakhs (Rs 25k per year ) for contingency and consumables.

3. An advance may be sanctioned for the following Sub-Heads:

i. Purchase of Books and / or subscription of journals

ii. Contingency

iii. Travel and/ or Field Work, not including travel for attending seminars, conferences, workshops and training programmes (As per approved RPS Clause iv. Under Nature of assistance).
