UGC Revises Fellowship Amounts for JRF, SRF, Post Doctoral; Know Details

The revised Fellowship amount under the UGC Fellowship Schemes will be applicable w.e.f. January 1, 2023.

In its 572nd meeting held on September 20, 2023, University Grants Commission (UGC) has considered and approved the revised rates of Fellowship amount under the UGC Fellowship Schemes. 

The revised Fellowship will be applicable w.e.f. January 1, 2023. Other terms and conditions will remain same as per the UGC scheme guidelines.

Revised Fellowship Details

For Senior Research Fellowship in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences the monthly stipend increased to INR 42,000 per month from INR 35,000 per month, for Junior Research Felloship in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, the amount is increased to INR 37,000 per month for two years from INR 31,000 per month for 2 years.

For Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child, the JRF stipend increased to INR 37,000 per month from INR 31,000 per month. Similarly, for SRF, it increased to INR 42,000 from INR 35,000. Post Doctoral Felloship for women increased to INR 58,000 from INR 47,000 pm for I year, INR 61,000 from INR 49,000 pm for II year and INR 67,000 pm from INR 54,000 pm for III year onwards.

Dr DS Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship - For Higher Post-Doctoral Fellowships, the stipend increased to INT 67,000 from INR 54,000 and for Post-Doctoral Fellowship, it increased to 58,000 pm from INR 47,000 pm for I year, INR 61,000 to INR 49,000 pm for II year and increased to 67,000 from INR 54,000 pm for III year onwards. The revised rates of fellowship in the designated UGC schemes will be applicable for existing beneficiaries only.
