University Grants Commission (UGC) has writtent to HEIs that the government has decided to assign/establish “Skill Hubs” at identified higher educational institutions of national repute under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0). 

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreurship (MSDE), Government of India has been implementing Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana for providing short-term skill training since 2015 for creating an industry-ready workforce across a spectrum of sectors and job roles.

MSDE has decided to assign/establish “Skill Hubs” at identified higher educational institutions of national repute under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0). 

To adapt to the government funded skilling program to the changing maket needs and economic landscape, PMKVY 4.0 has introduced various marquee initiatives. These enhancements include on job training, expansion of skilling institutions network for integration with education, skilling for all, training in new age courses relevant to Industry 4.0.

UGC said that to operationalize the scheme processes and manage it digitally on the Skill India Portal, the HEIs are requested to send the willingness and course/job-role-wise demand at https://admin.skillindiadigital.gov.in/Skillhub-PMKVY.

UGC: More Updates

UGC also initiated an online Organ Donation Pledge Registry beginning from ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ to register the pledges of willing citizens all over the country.

A toll free helpline number 1800114770, is available for providing any guidance related to pledging process or information on organ donation.

Moreover, in the 573rd Meeting of the Commission held on October 16, 2023, the Commission approved the University Grants Commission (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India) Regulations, 2023.
