DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh emphasized the importance of providing relief to students who completed their academic periods in 2021-22 and 2022-23

In a compassionate move to support students adversely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the University of Delhi's Executive Council (EC) has announced a special opportunity for affected individuals to complete their degrees.

During the 1269th meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, the council acknowledged the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic and the subsequent disruptions to education. In light of these circumstances, it was deemed unjust to penalize students for factors beyond their control.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh emphasized the importance of providing relief to students who completed their academic periods in 2021-22 and 2022-23, recognizing the stress and anxiety they may be experiencing regarding their academic status.

Under the newly approved scheme, eligible students will have the chance to appear for the remaining papers required to fulfill their degree requirements. A committee comprising academic advisors, faculty members, and administrators will assess individual requests from students who have exceeded their tenure. Applicants will be required to outline the impact of the pandemic on their academic progress and provide reasons for seeking an extension.

Special examinations will be conducted to facilitate the completion of degrees for those granted this opportunity. The provisions extend to MPhil students and individuals appearing in Centenary Chance, with a limit of four papers.

This initiative underscores the university's commitment to student welfare and mental well-being, ensuring that no student is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control. By offering this special opportunity, the University of Delhi aims to alleviate the academic burden and provide much-needed support to students navigating the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.
