McGraw Hill hosted a book launch event to unevil the first edition of ‘Neetishastra aur Civil Seva’ authored by Srikant Bhagat. The event was graced by Minister of state for Culture of India Arjun Ram Meghwal. The book has been written keeping in view the questions asked in the UPSC and State PSC exams thus making it apt for aspirants preparing for competitive exams. The launch event was followed by a panel discussion titled ‘Declining Morality in Human Life: Problems and Prospects.’

The book delves deep into the important issues of ethics and general studies to serve the knowledge seeking needs of the UPSC Civil Services Exam aspirants, academicians and general readers who seek an insightful understanding of ethical standards, policies, and issues. Additionally, it also includes case studies, illustrations and quotes to clear the complex concepts and make the learning much more easier and effective. The event was kickstarted with the inauguration of the book and was accompanied by a panel discussion which will include the appearance of notable personalities and IAS and IRS officials.

While commenting on the book, Arjun Ram Meghwal said, “Humanity is an integral part of growth, which humans often forget as they become prone to jealousy, ego, greed and much more. This is exactly why ethics and morality plays a very important role in each individual’s life. I believe that as one becomes humane, they become more educated. The book encapsulates the essence of this in a very unique way. Thanks to Sh. Shrikant Bhagat for writing this book to make our administration and our citizens much more responsible and ethical.”

While speaking on the occasion, Srikant Bhagat said, Ethics is an integral part of decision making, however, it is not actively taught in the curriculums. Additionally, competitive exams like UPSC, State PSC and more give a heavy weightage to the ethics of the individuals. Considering the same, the book Neetishashtra aur Civil Seva was created with an aim to provide adequate knowledge on ethical decision making and social responsibility. I am grateful to the McGraw Hill team for helping me draft the book in a manner where I could express my ideas best.”

The event, holistically, covered the importance of ethics through the discussions following the book launch and saw the inputs by notable personalities and other attendees, highlighting the importance of ethics in policy making and building of a nation.
