Supreme Court disposes of plea seeking reduction in NEET PG cut off
Noting the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's decision to reduce the NEET PG cut off by 15 percentile for all categories, Supreme Court has disposed of a plea seeking reduction of NEET PG cut off.
The doctors have been demanding to reduce the NEET PG cut off and recently Ministry of Health and Family Welfare decided that there shall be a reduction across all categories by 15 percentile for admission to the NEET-PG courses. Noting that the government has already decided to reduce the cut-off, Supreme Court has disposed of a plea seeking a reduction in NEET PG cut off marks.
A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and Surya Kant said the petition stands disposed of as now the doctors would be able to secure admissions and their grievances would be addressed by the government.
The bench said βBy a communication of the Union government dated March 12, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided in consultation with the National Medical Commission that there shall be a reduction across all categories of 15 percentile for admission to the NEET PG courses. Thus, for the general category the cut-off percentile is 35, for the physically handicapped general category 30 and for the reserved SC/ST 25,β as reported by NDTV.
βwe grant them liberty to adopt appropriate proceedings in accordance with law, including by applying for revival of present proceedings. Hence, the petition is disposed of, at the present stage, reserving liberty to the petitioners, as noted above,β the bench added.
NBE revises NEET PG 2021 cut off
National Board of Examinations (NBE) has revised the NEET PG 2021 cut off by reducing 15 percentile for all categories and it will release the revised NEET PG 2021 result based on the new qualifying percentile soon on its official website.
