UP schools to reopen for all classes on Monday

Offline classes for Classes 9 to 12 in Uttar Pradesh schools had already resumed on February 7. According to the order issued by Awanish Awasthi, additional chief secretary, home, all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at the time of reopening of physical classes.

With COVID-19 cases gradually declining, the Uttar Pradesh government has released revised COVID-19 guidelines, as per which schools in the state will reopen for all classes on February 14, 2022. Private and government offices can also function at full capacity. The state had reopened schools for offline classes for Classes 9 to 12 on February 7, 2022. 

In an order issued late on Friday night, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said all schools in the state from class nursery to class 8 can reopen from February 14. According to the order, all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at the time of reopening of physical classes. 

The Uttar Pradesh government has also allowed gyms to operate. Swimming pools and water parks will remain closed. Restaurants, cinema halls and hotels can also function following COVID-appropriate behaviour.The government said a COVID-19 help desk will be placed at all places to ensure the wearing of masks, social distancing, sanitisation and other protocols need to be followed. Uttar Pradesh reported 2,321 fresh COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths in 24 hours on Friday.
