SAT India 2025: Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Preparation, & Results

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised undergraduate university admission test conducted by the College Board for offering admission to candidates in universities of the US and Canada. SAT score is also accepted by some universities/ colleges in the UK and Australia. Apart from international universities/ colleges, the exam is also accepted for admission in more than 20 colleges in India. SAT comprises a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and Math Test. Apart from these, candidates may also appear for subject-specific tests. 

The SAT India exam is conducted to measure university readiness as well as predict the future academic success of a student from India seeking admission in undergraduate programs at various educational institutions in India and abroad.

SAT India 2024 dates

• The minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the SAT exam is a Class 12 pass or equivalent from a recognised board or university.
• There is no minimum or maximum age to apply for the SAT exam. However, the majority of students taking the SAT exam fall into the age group of 17–19 years.
• Aspirants can take the SAT exam as many times as they want.

All candidates willing to attempt the SAT this year must complete the SAT 2025 registration process. Candidates must visit the College Board website to apply for the SAT 2025.  Candidates can follow the below-given stages to complete the SAT registration process;

1. SAT Registration

   1. Candidates must visit the College Board website and click on the Registration tab
   2. A new SAT registration window will open in a new tab
   3. Click on Create Account, the registration form will appear on the screen
   4. fill in all the required details asked in the SAT account.
   5. fill in General Information, Personal Information, and parent Information.

2. Choose Preferred SAT Test Center

   • Candidates must choose their preferred SAT center and exam date.
   • candidates must look at the SAT 2025 schedule before choosing their preferred date and place.

3. Complete the SAT Registration 

   • Candidates must fill out the SAT registration after choosing the test center and date.
   • candidates must know that all the filled details must be accurate else the registration form can be rejected.
4. Pay the SAT Registration Fee
   • After completing the above given steps candidate should complete the SAT fee payment.
   • Candidates must remember to use the prescribed payment methods only.
   • Candidates should not interrupt the internet/ close the window/ create any other disturbance during ongoing transactions.
5. Review and Final Submit
   • Candidates should review the complete application form once completed, if any issue is found, rectify it with in the given deadline. After completing the SAT complete registration form review candidates can finally submit the application form.

Qualifying SAT India requires candidates to go through a process which includes the following steps:

Step 1: Register for SAT Exam

Candidates can register online for the SAT exam at the official website. The application form must be submitted before the deadline for the particular exam phase. In case, you miss a deadline you can fill the form again for the next upcoming phase.

Step 2: Get SAT Admission Ticket

The SAT admission ticket is issued to candidates after they successfully register for the exam. It is a confirmation document containing details of the SAT exam date and test centre. 

Step 3: Appear for SAT

Candidates have to appear for the SAT exam on the scheduled date and at the allotted exam center. The SAT General Test syllabus includes Verbal Ability, Maths, Writing and Language and relevant course subject.

Step 4: Check SAT Scores/ Result

The scores of the SAT exam are declared phase wise at the official website. Candidates can check their scores and download the scorecard from the website once it is released. 

The SAT conducting authority, the College Board publishes the SAT exam pattern on the official website. The SAT exam consists of two sections namely; Reading and Writing (RW), and Mathematics. There will be 54 questions in the reading and writing section and 44 questions are asked in the Mathematics section.  The time allotted to attempt both sections of the SAT 2025 exam (India) will be 2 hours and 14 minutes. Candidates will be allotted separate time durations to solve each section. Candidates cannot switch between sections in a given time period. This consortium known as the India Global Alliance offers Indian educational institutions an opportunity to engage with some of the world's top-notch universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Columbia University, Cambridge University, McGill University, etc.

Universities that are part of the India Global Alliance accept SAT scores for admissions.

SAT India Eligibility Criteria for Scholarships

To be eligible for SAT scholarships, aspirants must fulfill the below-mentioned criteria:

• Candidate must be a resident of India
• The candidate should either appear in class 12 or have passed 10+2 from any recognized board in India.
• The combined income of both parents must be less than INR 8 Lakhs
• Candidates should be top performers in the SAT exam (score of 1300+/ 1600).
• In the case of a university-based scholarship, The candidate must have filled out the university admission form (The university in which applying for the scholarship).
• In the case of scholarship through a trust or NGO, Candidates must apply for the SAT-based scholar as early as possible.
• Candidates must enroll and get the admission offer letter in the university after getting the SAT-based scholarship.

SAT test fee discount/ scholarship is offered to candidates who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria

Criteria 1: SAT 90 percent discount voucher & 100 percent tuition fees scholarship

Candidates need to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to avail this discount voucher:

• Be a resident of India
• Be a student of Class 11 or Class 12
• Have an annual family income of less than Rs 8 lakhs
• Appeared for SAT in Class 11/ 12 in the 2022-23 session
• A top performer in SAT exam (minimum score of 1300 out of 1600)
• Must apply and enroll in any participating Indian university

Criteria 2: SAT 50% Discount Voucher & Up to $1500 (Rs 1 lakh) scholarship

Candidates need to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to avail this discount voucher:

• Be a resident of India
• Be a student of Class 11 or Class 12
• Have annual family income between INR 8 Lakhs to INR 15 Lakhs
• Appeared for SAT in Class 11/ 12
• A top performer in SAT exam (minimum score of 1300 out of 1600)
• Must apply and enroll in any participating Indian university
