If you want something, prepare early for it: Pooja Thapa

About 5 years ago, I was very confused about my career. I failed the AIPMT (now NEET) exam when I was pursuing intermediate. I dropped a year thinking I’ll clear AIPMT next year, but even then, I could not clear it. I lost all hope. My dream was to become a doctor, maybe I was not born to be one. After this failure, choosing a course was quite tough for me. One morning, I was going through the newspaper, and there I saw an advertisement of DIBNS, Dehradun for BPT. On googling it, I found that “DIBNS, Dehradun offers highly focused paramedical courses”. The very first course which I saw was BSc and M.Sc Biotechnology. Biotechnology was the grooming field those days. I eagerly wanted to know what it meant and to what areas it would be related to. I was so amazed after seeing the history of Biotechnology. For example, it also led to the development of antibiotics (Penicillin, in 1940, became available for medicinal use to treat bacterial infections in humans). That time, I decided to take admission in this course. My very first choice was DIBNS, Dehradun because of its high academic standards, quality education, and research-based study in subjects related to modern science and additionally, it was near to my hometown.

Taking admission in DIBNS was not that tough for me because the main motive of this college is to provide education to everyone whether the student is financially poor or average in studies. My grades were good enough so I did not find any difficulty in taking admission. From my point of view, if someone wants to take admission in this college, he/she should visit the college campus first and go through each and every detail.

My life in the college was very good. I got to know about so many new things including life lessons too. DIBNS offers possibilities by which the student recognizes their purpose in life and helps them to achieve their goals. DIBNS made me very a good student from an ordinary student. My percentile in 12th was not that good but now, my CGPA in MSc is 8.83. I also found my life goal. I am now preparing for CSIR-NET, and I hope my dream will come true this time (jokes apart). My journey so far with this college has been great. A mistake that I made during my college was that I did not prepare for CSIR-NET when I was in the 1st year of my MSc. So, I suggest everyone that if you want to get something, prepare well and early for it. The college faculty team helped me a lot. They always inspired and motivated me to do what makes me happy and what I really want to do. Hopefully, I’ll write again on Shiksha when I’ll qualify UGC-NET.

I suggest that while choosing a career, know yourself first- your values, strengths, weaknesses and last but not the least, your happiness. The thing which makes you happy will make you successful too. Once you decide to pursue that course, go through each and every detail of that subject. Finally, study well, study happily and enjoy your college life. All the very best for your career.
