Real view of Assam University, Silchar.

Placements: Hardly one or two were placed in campus recruitments otherwise all are off-campus placements. Almost no hope for good placement. The fee is taken for placement but no such training are conducted. Even if you get selected in a company, it would be a bad one. From the placement point of view, it is the worst government institute. Your only hope is GATE.

Assam University- Satisfied as value for money, with superb facilities and good infrastructure.

Placements: The placements happen quite often and almost half of the students are placed every year. MNCs such as Tech Mahindra, IBM, TCS, Wipro and Zaloni visit the campus for placement, and the packages usually range between 3-5 lakhs. The job profiles range from BPO Executive, Technical Recruiter, Software Engineer to analytics profile. All the students do the internships from various companies and institutes, as it is a compulsory one for the B.Tech curriculum under the university ...

Our institute was founded in 2006 and is the first non government engineering institute in Assam.

Placements: Placements of our senior batch were pretty good. Almost 40% of the students were placed. The highest salary was around 50-60k and the lowest starts from 17k. There are lots of companies that visited our campus like Bharti Airtel Limited, IBM India Pvt. Ltd, PepsiCo India Holdings Private Limited, Sony India Pvt. Ltd, Vodafone Essar Spacetel Limited, Reliance and many more. About 50% students got internships from the college.

Experience of GIMT- Guwahati

Placements: The placement is not good for my senior batch as well as my batch. The average package offered to the students was about Rs. 12000-15000 per month outside Assam which was not sufficient. Most companies which came to recruit were BPO companies. A few companies are good such as Wipro, Genpact, TNS etc but the offered salary was very disappointing. The training and placement cell is average here.

It’s a wonderful deemed central university offering B.Tech in 6 disciplines and Diploma in 7 disciplines. A beautiful lush green campus with state of the art infrastructure makes it one of the top colleges in north east. With IIT Guwahati as the mentor institute, this young institute has thrived its way to success and glory with many alumnis working in reputed public and private sector companies as well as pursuing post graduation from reputed institutions all across the country.

I have done B.Tech from this college in 2007-11. At that time, the engineering branches of this university were in budding stage. Infrastructure was in developing stage. Faculty was not much experienced. Placements were not there. But after I completed my course, things have improved a lot. The department got its new building. Hostel facility is good now as of what I heard.

The standard of teachers is very low with exception of 1 or 2 of them. Infrastructure is fine, with amenities like Wi-Fi, hostel accommodation, playground etc. It's quite far from the city. Examination department is really lazy. The results of semesters used to get declare sometimes after 6 months. Library is huge, and you will get relevant books for the course. There is some inter department politics as the non-core subjects are taught by teachers of other departments.

The campus facilities provided are poor. The Wi-Fi is available only for the faculty. The faculty is good but the management is a coward. They don’t provide any placements in any of the core industries. The infrastructure is poor and it is like a government hospital. No practical ideas and innovations are taught here. Educational improvements are needed for better development in GIMT.

An average college for Engineering. Lovely environment. Wonderful locality. I got admitted in this college in 2009. Being the pioneer batch of the college, we had to compromise many facilities which my friends are getting in other college. But one thing I have to admit about the special GATE classes. Superb teacher. Super class for it. About placement, being the pioneer, we suffered the most. A few just got through campus.

Beautiful campus with a subway. It has three canteens where all kinds of food is available within the campus. A good ground with a pretty good indoor stadium.
