Worth Pursuing B.Sc. at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV)?

Here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Excellent Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable.
    * Good Infrastructure: Modern libraries, smart classrooms, and well-equipped labs.
    * Practical Knowledge: Emphasis on hands-on experience and projects.
    * High Pass Percentage: Around 80% of students pass, with some batches having a 99.99% pass rate.
    * Placement Opportunities: While the college does not have a dedicated placement cell, students have been placed in reputed organizations with salaries ranging from INR4 LPA to INR25 LPA.
    * Research Opportunities: Students have opportunities to participate in research projects and workshops.
    * Campus Life: A peaceful environment, sporting facilities, and cultural events add to the overall experience.

    Cons:

    * Limited Placement Cell Support: Despite being a major drawback, students have found alternative ways to secure placements.
    * Lack of Smartboards: Some students mentioned that lack of smartboards made lectures challenging.
    * Poor Accommodation: Girls' hostels require improvement, while boys' hostels are relatively better.
    * Average Mess Food: While food is available, some students find it unappealing.

In conclusion, BCKV offers a strong foundation in agriculture, with experienced faculty, good infrastructure, and opportunities for practical knowledge and research. However, limited placement cell support and some infrastructural issues might affect the overall experience. Considering these factors, pursuing a B.Sc. at BCKV can be a worthwhile decision for those interested in agriculture and willing to work towards securing placements independently.

Recommendation: Yes, considering the strengths and weaknesses, BCKV can be a good choice for students looking to gain a solid education in agriculture.

This university provides better education and safe environment.
Placements: Currently a little less after covid pandemic, but various scope are opening day by day. Different fungicide, pesticide and fertilizer companies are approaching the campus and NGOs are also associated with this placement process. Hope for a better future.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is present in library, labs are really pioneering for students. Classrooms are mostly smart classrooms with AC and all other amenities along with enough place to accomodate the students. Totally peaceful and knowledgeable environment is present at the campus.
Faculty: Faculty is very much helpful, and highly qualified. Professors and assistant professors and other part of faculty always can be trusted to teach more than only the syllabus. Semester exams are difficult at some particular semesters and guard is very strict. So, learning is very important in this university.

    Absolutely satisfied for higher education.
Placements: 10%students got placement and rest have amazing ranks in exams. The highest package is 10 lakh per annum and the lowest is 7 LPA. Syngenta Banks, IFFCO, etc. are the top recruiters. Top roles offered are Agriculture Minister and directors of several institutions. This course opens up the gate to several exams like candidates can opt for govt. jobs like UPSC, WBCS and bank jobs.
Infrastructure: There is not enough accommodation. Food is average. A canteen is there and medical facilities available. A gym is there. Classrooms are smart classrooms with ACs. It has the second largest library in Asia among all the agricultural universities. Wi-Fi is there in the library but in other areas, network connectivity is poor.
Faculty: Pass percentage is 80. Teaching quality is awesome. Exams are hard and the course is absolutely relevant. The students are accepted in foreign institutions as well as in top notch institutions of the country. They even get selected in international internships.
Other: Fests are there once a year. Students can opt for vivekananda or icar scholarships.

It is an above average college having a great campus life, but no placements.
Placements: No placements are offered by our University, but after completing the degree, the students can appear for several job related exams like AFO, NABARD or may continue their higher studies. No internships are provided by our university, students can appear for other internships offered by other institutions on their own. The university will not provide any help regarding the same.
Infrastructure: We have a huge library with Wi-Fi facilities and all kinds of practical labs, but the size of the practical lab is too small to accommodate all the students. There is a shortage of classrooms, there are no specific classrooms for specific courses. University has all kinds of hostel accommodations for which one should pay only the mess charges. We have a medical emergency facility available 24*7.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and all of them are Ph.D. holders. They teach like we’re their own children. Lack of smart boards make the lectures tough. Agriculture is a good course and the students are prepared for a vast field beside the course. There are two semesters in a year having a total of eight semesters. Duration of one semester is around 6 months including mid sem, end sem and practical exams. Students who fail in more than 4 subjects, get a year back.
Other: Agriculture is the backbone of our nation. By improving agriculture, we can improve our food security during harsh conditions. There are a lot of vacancies in this field, so just do it. In our university, social fest like Nairit is organized every year, most probably during the winters. Students may apply for SVMCM scholarship. University promotes all kinds of extra curricular activities like inter-college competitions, cricket, football and others.

    Our college has beautiful atmosphere.
Placements: Placements in this course differ from year to year with the demand. Top private companies visit our college and offer jobs with decent salary packages, but students prefer government jobs. This course has high scope for government jobs and good positions.
Infrastructure: The course is very good. Classrooms are smart and fully air-conditioned. The library is fully loaded with knowledgeable books. It provides free Wi-Fi. The hostel has very good facilities. The mess provides diverse menu twice a day. We have our medical center.
Faculty: Teachers are educated and very helpful. They give their best for us and arrange regular practical classes. The course curriculum is relevant and very well managed. The difficulty level of semester exams is moderate. The pass percentage is 55%.
Other: The university conducts sports annually.

Review of BCKV - Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya.
Placements: There is no placement cell in this college. In the previous year, the activity was down the graph. We are getting Agro-allied companies for campusing and screening on the Mohanpur campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Two sub-campuses have new academic and administrative buildings. Hostel is very good. I would like to rate it 10 out of 10. The food quality is perfect.
Faculty: Faculty members are great. Semester exams are moderate. In the previous year, RAWE started on our campus. It is the best activity we have in the UG course.
Other: A new policy is going to be implemented, so many things will be altered for sure. We are just hoping for the best out of it. I wish for more scope to do internships. Our campus crowd is huge. Events and sports activities are conducted in this college.
