The relevant health issue was discussed with experienced and essential stakeholders on "Addressing Stroke- A Pathway to Achieve SDG3." With the #StrokeFAST, the panel was invited to discuss stroke as a major public health concern, prevention and treatment, and the latest advances. Three significant panels discussed a variety of themes related to stroke awareness, stroke treatment, and stroke control at the panel discussion. Each panel discussed topics such as the prevalence of stroke in India, prevention, causes and symptoms, diagnosis, thrombolysis, technical innovations-MT, stroke treatment, minimising deaths and disabilities, evidence for stroke policy, and recovery for stroke patients, as well as engaging local communities and front-line workers. The virtual panel debate included members of the medical community, the ICMR, state health agencies, technologists, innovators, business experts, and civil society representatives.

According to other studies, strokes occur at a high rate. A study published in the Journal of Stroke Medicine, titled 'Recommendation for the early management of Acute Ischemic Stroke,' found that the prevalence rate of strokes in rural areas is between 84 and 262 strokes per 1 lakh people, and between 334 and 424 strokes per 1 lakh people in urban areas.

According to the NCD Countdown 2030 study, most countries, including India, are moving too slowly to attain SDG 3.4. “Every second delay is significant when it comes to Stroke,” she stated to the crowd. If you notice any of the symptoms of a stroke, call an ambulance right away."

Public Health And Mental Wellbeing Discussion Series: Issues, Challenges, And Solutions Amid Covid 19
September 14, 2021: The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on population mental health and mental health systems hastened to respond by enforcing social distancing, quarantine, and isolation in response to fear, anxiety, anger, and grief by adapting to new ways of learning and working with the uncertainty of losing jobs and family income. The impacts of the uncertain situation originating from the global pandemic have affected people of all ages, and mental ill-health has expressed itself as a spectrum of severity ranging from mild anxiety to suicidal impulses.
The SD Gupta School of Public Health at IIHMR University hosted a webinar titled Suicide Behaviour Prevention in the Covid-19 Scenario: Creating Hope through Action to address this critical public health challenge. The webinar was the third in the “Public Health and Mental Well-Being Series,” and it took place on September 10, 2021, which was World Suicide Prevention Day.
The webinar had an array of eminent global experts from the field of public health, injury research and suicide prevention : Dr Abdulgafoor M. Bachani, Faculty of International Health and Director, Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit, JHSPH, Baltimore, USA and Dr Cuong Pham Viet, Director, Center for Injury Policy and Prevention Research, Hanoi School of Public Health, Hanoi, Vietnam among others
“Mental health and mental pressure is one of the most neglected areas of public health, and suicide is a complicated issue, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic,” stated Dr PR Sodani, President, IIHMR University, in his welcome address. “At numerous levels, there are hopes and prospects for suicide prevention. IIIHMR has been working on a project to study road traffic injuries and is now focusing on suicide prevention and self-harm research.”, he continued
While explaining the effects of individual and school-level factors on suicide thoughts and depression among high school students, Dr. Cuong Pham Viet. He went on to say that after the Covid pandemic, there was a rise in family violence against women and children, social alienation and isolation, and more exposure to online learning, which led to child mental degeneration, cyberbullying, and violence. Covid 19 prevention and cure are given top priority, but activities to avoid injuries and violence are neglected.
Suicide is a tragedy in and of itself. Every year, suicide costs billions of dollars. Understanding suicide behavior is critical for developing innovative suicide prevention methods that are efficient, practical, and cost-effective. Every year, almost 800,000 people commit suicide. Every year, more individuals commit suicide than are murdered, and suicide has grown by 60% in the last 40 years. To handle the increasing need for mental health care during and after a pandemic, countries must build a comprehensive case registry system so that crucial data can be collected without stigma, allowing them to take further action.

He also discussed how privatisation can help the economy as a whole.
“Covid-19 has generated various hurdles at both the national and international level. However, it has taught corporations valuable lessons about keeping systems simple yet effective, as most of these fell apart during the pandemic. It is the contributions of those in the development sector who have put their lives on the line to keep things running. It is critical that people recognise that experts in the development sector chose to work in this field. During the Covid era, these professionals influenced community attitudes to become more resilient. These specialists have aided people in dealing with mental health issues, which are fraught with a social stigma. In a society where people share bathrooms, 6X8 room spaces, and common utilities, any one member of an eight-person household suffering from Covid would face severe societal repercussions. Professionals in the development industry, as well as CSR or NGO organisations, stepped forward to assist these people and raise awareness about the importance of community resilience in order to ensure continuity.” stated Sudarshan Suchi, CEO of Save the Children India.
In his closing remarks, Prof Rahul Ghai, Dean - SDS, IIHMR University, emphasised the need of people-centred development agendas and more robust civic involvement in recalibrating space for public benefit. IIHMR-U to Organise a Webinar on Value-Based Healthcare in Medical Device Industry on June 12
June 11, 2020: In contrast to traditional models in the area of healthcare, when a patient receives treatment, Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) models consider care to be a long-term situation that rebounds on months of the first doctor's visit or years following the initial treatment delivery. This encourages providers to consider the long-term results and costs of a medical device or therapy.
Value-based medical care is now the most widely debated subject in the medical devices industry. Value-based care is a power play to avoid commodity trap. The Webinar will be thought-provoking for those aspirants who want to start thinking and want to know how they can contribute to building a value-based healthcare strategy.
