Q:   Is MCA at IGDTUW Delhi worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: MCA students & alumni}

Based on the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the key points:

    * Placement Prospects: While the majority of students (approximately 75-80%) are placed, the placement opportunities are limited to certain companies, mainly smaller ones. Big tech giants like TCS, Capgemini, and Cognizant often visit the campus, but the highest package offered is INR 19 LPA, while the average package is INR 5.5 LPA.
    * Infrastructure and Facilities: The college has basic infrastructure, with decent hostels, a small library, and relatively new classrooms. However, the quality of facilities varies, and some areas require improvement.
    * Faculty and Teaching: Faculty members are generally helpful and knowledgeable, with some exceptions. The course curriculum could benefit from updates and more emphasis on practical assessments and projects.
    * Student Life: Student life is relatively calm, with regular fests and events organized by various clubs and societies.
    * Cost: The course fee is approximately INR 1,05,000 per year, making it an affordable option.

Considering these factors, whether MCA at IGDTUW Delhi is worth the investment depends on individual priorities and goals. For those seeking a stable job with a decent package, the college might offer satisfactory opportunities. However, for aspirants aiming for top-tier companies or seeking specialised skill sets, IGDTUW might not meet their expectations.

Ultimately, prospective students should weigh the pros and cons carefully before deciding on investing in this program.

    Delhi's top women college.
Placements: About placement, I got an off-campus internship; it wasn’t offered by the university. For B.Tech students, internships are available on campus, but for MCA, we have to find them ourselves. Placements start at the end of the first year. Cisco, American Express, Nokia, NetApp, and many more companies visited. The average package in my course is 12 LPA, and the highest is 26 LPA. Almost 100% of students are placed, though some who want to pursue higher studies abroad are not included. My current job I got from campus is with Pentair as a business analyst.
Infrastructure: The college is a few kilometers from the Yamuna River, and the size of the campus is too small, making it difficult to find a place during breaks, especially in summer. There are a lot of monkeys on campus stealing food and disturbing students. No extra fees for the library; all books and journals are free, just need to register in the library. The college intake is increasing every year, but we have old hostel facilities. We can choose our room partner. There are no sports facilities as the campus is very small.
Faculty: Faculty members are good, and we get the opportunity to do hands-on coding practice in the lab. Some teachers may seem rude and strict, but if you talk to them, you’ll find they are very friendly. Teachers also have corporate experience; one of my professors formally worked with Amazon. The MCA course is in demand with Java, Python, C, and C+ as programming languages and DBMS, and algorithms as other subjects. The credit system is divided such that you have to appear for mid-term and end-term exams to pass. You can easily pass if you study well and attend all lectures.

The curriculum is good and not too harsh.
Placements: There is a decent chance of getting placed, depending on the student's skills and knowledge. Mainly, the students are able to take part in placement from the 3rd semester for MCA by applying to the company that came to the university, and some students take part in campus placement through the mass recruiters, such as Cognizant, Capgimini, TCS, and many others who visit the college. The highest package in 2023 is INR 19 LPA, and the average package is INR 5.5 LPA. A total of 75 to 80% of students are placed, and many get great offers off campus depending on their skills and knowledge. Basically, I want to do a job at my dream company, i.e., TCS.
Infrastructure: There are two hostels, Krishna and Kaveri. The hostels are allotted based on the distance between your home and the university. For freshers, there are four students in a room. The room consists of a bunker, beds, study tables, and chairs. The food is very good when compared to other hostels. The menu is a proper combination of junk food and healthy food. For the hostel, you need to apply online at the official website of the college. Once your name is shortlisted, you will get into the hostel. The hostel feels that, including mess charges, it is INR 1,25,000, which may increase further.
Faculty: MCA is one of the most popular courses in IT and has a great future in the industry. It will give you a core knowledge of programming with great open-source tools and help you create scalable applications. The faculty-student ratio is good, if, in my case, for the MCA department, there are 8 faculty members over 60 students. All the faculty are SET or NET qualified, and some are Google Scholars with Ph.D. or post-Ph.D. The examinations are quite good in June and December for even and odd, respectively. And it is easy to get more than 7.5 sgpa at this college. Class size:-60 Course cost: INR 1,05,000 per year.

The curriculum needs to be updated & more focus should be given on practical assessments & projects.
Placements: Every year many students get placed in big tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Salesforce etc. The highest package offered to 2 B.Tech students this session was 32 Lacs given by Salesforce. There are many other companies which come for placement like Uber, Amazon, Adobe etc. So it's a good college in terms of placement.
Infrastructure: The library is pretty small and the books are old but they can still be used. Wi-Fi is fine and classrooms have been renovated. Canteen is also okay. As it's an old college which comes under Archaeological Society of India so construction isn't allowed but college tries to renovate buildings and classes.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. They are helpful. But as it's a government college things take a lot of time here and the process is slow. Quality of teaching is good. The curriculum needs to be updated and more focus should be given on practical assessments and projects.

Absolutely satisfied with this university. You will surely make good memories here.
Placements: Placements in IGDTUW, especially for B.Tech, are adorable. There are almost 100% placements for all the branches. The training and placement cell tries to increase the placement graphs exponentially every year. Companies like Microsoft, Walmart, Intuit, VMWare, Cisco, etc., visit the campus every year. The highest package offered for the batch 2018-19 was 40.2 LPA, and the average package was 10 LPA. Overall, the placements in IGDTUW are good.
Infrastructure: Buildings are well-ventilated. The campus is large. The metro station is nearby, and the bus stop just behind the college. Wi-Fi facility is available. Labs are well-equipped. A beautiful auditorium is available. The construction is of British Era. The admin block used to be like a jail. Monkeys and squirrels around will make your day. Winters here are the enjoyable season. There is a huge lush green ground with many games facilities to play.
Faculty: Faculty members are well qualified and practical oriented. The knowledge they have is mind-blowing. They are always ready to help students in their own ways. The course curriculum is more practical oriented. Good industry exposure is provided.
Other: Fests are conducted in IGDTUW. Innerve is the technical fest, and Taarangana is the cultural fest. Both are the must attending festivals if you are a Delhiite. The campus crowd is more programming orientated. Various technical and cultural Societies are available in the college, and students can join them.

The college has an average infrastructure and good food. The worst faculty members except 2-3.
Placements: Approximately 90% of the students from MCA branch got placed, and 15% of the students from them got an internship. Approximately 80% of the students from other departments got an internship. Placements were average for MCA students. Companies visit our campus only to hire B.Tech students. The highest salary package offered for MCA student was 10 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 40,000 for an internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was average. But the condition of the classrooms was bad, and washrooms are cleaned. There was always ventilation problem in labs as hardly any air-conditioner worked during my tenure. The canteen was small. The food was delicious, but the quantity was very less, and the price was always high for any food.
Faculty: The college has worst faculty members except for 2-3 teachers who were helpful and always gave good suggestions for placements preparation and career. 2 teachers were the worst teachers of this college. Other faculty members focus only on completing the course.
Other: The only thing good about this college was its annual fest.

I am not satisfied because of the placements.
Placements: Placements stats of the college were not very good. Most companies favour B.Tech over post-graduation students be it MCA or M.Tech. However, companies like FICO, CISCO, TCS, Accenture, iON Digital visited the campus for placements of MCA students and students are placed in these companies. The minimum salary package offered was 3.5 LPA. The maximum salary package offered was 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is fine. It is neither too good nor bad. Labs are air-conditioned and well-equipped with systems. Classrooms are air-conditioned and have a projector facility. There is a medical room with a doctor and a nurse. The library facility is good. You can issue books from the book bank of the library for the whole semester but there is a particular date n time for this.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college are fine. Honestly, not all teachers are up to the mark in qualification. However, some faculty members are helpful and qualified. They mostly use blackboards and PPT methods. There are around 60-70 students in one batch. The student to faculty ratio is 65;1, and it is 30:1 for labs as students get divided into 2 batches.
Other: Fest of IGDTUW is a great event. Students wait for this whole year. The fest name is Taarangana. Even there are many societies like Greenshpere, Rehnuma for drama, Hypnotics for dance, Synergy the sports club and many more.
