Q:   Is it worth pursuing B.Arch at IGDTUW Delhi?

    A:
    {Source: B.Arch students & alumni}

Here's what current students and alumni have to say:

    Placement and Career Opportunities

    * Despite having a high percentage of students getting placed (almost 90%), the reality is that placement opportunities for B.Arch students are limited. Only 1 person gets selected for placement annually.
    * Internships are mandatory, and almost 100% of students opt for internships during their semester break.

    Faculty and Teaching Quality

    * While some teachers are helpful and experienced, others are considered rude and unhelpful.
    * Faculty members are highly qualified, with some having over 35 years of on-field experience.

    Infrastructure and Facilities

    * The campus has modern facilities, including a state-of-the-art library, classrooms, and 3D model labs.
    * Hostel facilities are decent, with comfortable living spaces and amenities like Wi-Fi, fans, and a library.

    Student Life and Extracurricular Activities

    * Fests and events are organized regularly, attracting participation from over 30 colleges.
    * Students have access to various societies, clubs, and sports facilities, promoting overall development.

    Pros and Cons

In conclusion, pursuing B.Arch at IGDTUW Delhi requires careful consideration. While the institution boasts excellent infrastructure and faculty, placement opportunities for B.Arch students are limited. Students must weigh these factors against the benefits of attending a reputed university with strong academic programs. Ultimately, it depends on individual goals and priorities.

Review of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW).
Placements: Almost 90% of students got placed in our college in different companies like Facebook, etc. Our college is a high rewarder university for women in Delhi. It offers a conducive environment for female students to thrive and provide them with opportunities in the field of architecture and engineering.
Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all facilities. They provide many courses. Our department has 3D model labs, classrooms, and a library. Classrooms are spacious. Our college has good environment. Our campus is well-equipped with modern facilities. It has a state-of-the-art library and classrooms.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and intelligent. They provide the best education. Exams are a bit difficult. They are always ready to tackle with students.
Other: Our college is safe. It is a women's college. Our college crowd is average.

For B. Arch course, the college is not so good.
Placements: About 15% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 54.50 LPA and the average salary package offered is 18.36 LPA. Sahara Group and Architect Consultants are the top recruiters. Our college has good placement facilities in B.Tech compared to B.Arch. There are very low chances to get placement in B.Arch in our college. Only 1 person is selected.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are good in our college and in a room, there are 5 fans available and a library is available. It is so huge but you can get all the available materials for studying. In the hostel, mess facilities are good. The food is hygienic and clean. Game facilities are available on campus.
Faculty: Teachers are very rude in the B.Arch course. They are good and some are very helpful. Some are very disciplined. We don't have much curriculum activities included in our college. Semester exams are very easy. We don't take tension. Semester exam credits are 2 credits.
Other: I chose architecture because it interests me. Architects are very professional. As every person pursuing B.Tech, I chose architecture because it's a very different field.

Besides infrastructure of college, I am satisfied with the architecture department.
Placements: The architecture department does not provide placements. However, the university does provide internship opportunities to students every year and also conducts seminars and workshops.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is a little old but the department of architecture is really nice. The best block of the whole campus is the architecture department. It has a museum in the block and many other rooms. This is a government college so the hostel is not as lavish but does provide you with the basic facilities.
Faculty: The faculty of IGDTUW in the architecture department is very professional and all faculty members, including the visiting faculty members, are graduates and have done Masters from top colleges of architecture in India. All the teachers have a knowledgeable background and many years of experience in this field.

Reviews of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW).
Placements: There are no campus placements for B.Arch like any other technical college having architecture, but efforts are still pacing in this direction. 100% is the internship rate as a whole semester is dedicated compulsorily for internship for this particular course. Pass outs have successfully set up tier own architectural firms.
Infrastructure: All the infrastructure needed for a 5-year course is available on campus, but there is still a far more way to go. Wi-Fi is accessible to all students and faculty members. Its speed is good. Hostels are not so good here, but efforts are being made to make it better.
Faculty: The faculty members are appointed through a rigorous recruitment process. Especially the B.Arch faculty members are extremely high qualified. Some teachers have more than 35 years of on-field experience. The extraordinary teachers here make this particular course successful despite being just 5 years old.
Other: The best thing about this course is the teachers who are extremely highly qualified.

There are no placements, but it offers lots of experience to make you ready for this course.
Placements: I am in the architecture branch, and there are no placements in a company. However, you can start doing an internship to get experience, and then you can work with other architectural firms or can start your own business. In the year 2020, our first batch of architecture passed out, but because of this pandemic, they all are doing an internship from their home. The best part of the architecture is that you can learn lots of interesting software from the second year, which help you in future in all types of digital graphic work. In the first year, we have to do handwork like drafting everything, which can be irritating, but it improves our detailing work because detailing is most important in this course. We have theory subjects and practicals. The practical subject has more credits than theory subjects, and these are also important.
Infrastructure: As compared to Krishna and Kaveri hostel to other hostels mainly in Delhi, it is far better than others. I think the mess is the best as compared to other colleges. Our college Wi-Fi is available for all students. You can get your rooms according to your residence distance from the university. The first priority is given to outside Delhi students, then Delhi NCR, and at last if the rooms are vacant, then they are given to Delhi students. You have to fill the form every year like a new student to the hostel and can change your room according to your preference. Our campus playground is shared with Ambedkar University, which is co-ed, but there are no such issues with those people in our college. Our architecture department is equipped with facilities like we have an air-conditioner in our studios while B.Tech students don't have an air-conditioner in their classes. We have a library, basketball court, football ground, Nescafe canteen and tuck shop which is famous for its cheese Maggi. We have lots of fests in our college organised by students and campus head. In the hostel, we do celebrations separately, which is the best part of the college.
Faculty: Teachers at IGDTUW are highly qualified from well-known government universities. Teachers are helpful and hardworking, and they help us even on off-college days. Some teachers are very good, but some are average like you may don't like the way they treat you. This course makes you ready for the toughest situations in your life. It is a hard course, and you may have to stay awake whole night to complete the submissions at the time of the jury. Looking at our seniors from 4th and 5th year, they seem industry-ready. We do lots of projects from the first year like NASA trophies and other competitions told by our faculty members, so we get hands-on experience through different aspects while working on them with our seniors.
Other: Fests in our college are all-around exciting, and students from more than 30 colleges join our fests. As compared to DTU, NSUT and IIT, our campus is very small, but it is sufficient as per the number of students. We don't have to walk miles for moving from one department to another. Our campus is around 0.7 km from Kashmere gate metro station, and there is a bus stand near the station. So there is no issue of connectivity. For extracurricular activities, we have different societies like dance society, modelling society, photography society, social welfare society, basketball and badminton society, etc. The scholarship is offered by the college and through national scholarship portal.
