The current and upcoming events of NU-DET 2024 are given in the table below.

The Institute of Design, Nirma University, opened the application form for NU-DET on November 9, 2023. Interested candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for the B.Des program need to duly fill out and submit the application form before the last date.

Step-wise process to apply for NU-DET 2024

1. Click on the application link given above
2. You will be redirected to a “New Candidate Registration” window
3. Fill in details like name, email ID, and mobile number to get registered.
4. Upon registration, you need to log in to the newly created applicant account.
5. Fill in personal, academic, and contact details.
6. Finally, pay the application fee to complete the registration process. The fees have to be paid online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

NU-DET Application Fee 2024

To be considered for admission to the B.Des program offered by Nirma University, the candidate must meet the following criteria.  

• The candidates must have passed 10+2 or any other equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. OR
• Candidates holding a 10+3 diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education or any other board/university considered equivalent by Nirma University with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks can also apply.

Nirma University offers a B.Des program with specializations in two disciplines - 1) Product and Interaction Design and 2) Communication Design. The seat intake for each discipline and the total intake capacity are given below.

Note: Up to 15% of the total seat intake is reserved for NRI/NRI-sponsored candidates.

The selection process for the B.Des program at Nirma University is given below.

• Step 1 - Entrance Exam: Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs at the Institute of Design, Nirma University, will be based on the merit of candidates in the UCEED 2024 or NU-DET 2024 entrance exam. 
• Step 2 - Situation Test & Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates have to appear in a Situation Test & Personal Interview.

The Situation Test and Personal Interview will evaluate the general awareness, aptitude, and interests of the candidate. In addition, it will also assess the quality of the candidate’s responses to social and cultural issues and his or her ability to articulate their thoughts through creative work done by them.

The Institute of Design, Nirma University, will conduct the Personal Interview for NU-DET candidates on January 28, 2024. Meanwhile, the interview for UCEED applicants will be conducted on April 28, 2028. 

The interview will be conducted in offline mode.

Note that the candidate will be included in the merit list if he or she appears in the interview. However, if the candidate skips the interview, the candidate will be disqualified.

Document checklist for Personal Interview

The following documents are to be produced at the time of personal interview:

• SSC Examination (Std X) Mark-sheet
• HSC Examination (Std XII) Mark-sheet
• School Leaving Certificate or Transfer Certificate
• Diploma Examination Mark-sheet, if applicable
• Latest Passport Size Photograph of the applicants
• Additional documents to be submitted by NRI/NRI sponsored category applicants:

Proof of residence of sponsor (applicable to NRI-sponsored applicant):

• Passport of self and his/her mother and/or father (applicable to NRI applicant)
• Affidavit from sponsoring person (applicable to NRI sponsored only)
• Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi (if an applicant has passed a qualifying examination from outside India)
• Any other relevant certificate

The Institute of Design, Nirma University, will declare the results of the NU-DET 2024 exam in the form of a merit list.

The 1st merit list of NU-DET 2024 will be released on February 5, 2024. This will be followed by the release of the Provisional Offer Letter on February 8, 2024.

Meanwhile, the merit list candidates seeking admission based on UCEED 2024 scores, will be released on May 6, 2024. The Provisional Offer Letter for UCEED applicants will be released on May 9, 2024.

NU-DET Merit List 2024 - Weightage 

*Note: Students who have appeared for UCEED 2024 will be entitled to an additional 10% of marks on the obtained UCEED scores in the overall total.
