NMIMS SPPSPTM - Drs Vaishali Londhe and Dr Sarika Wairkar Receive Patent

November 16, 2022: For the NMIMS Shohbaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPPSPTM), it has been a source of great pride that two members of their faculty, Drs Vaishali Londhe, MPharm., PhD, and PG Program Chairperson, and Dr Sarika Wairkar, Associate Professor, have recently received Indian patents, Nos. 411078 and 408059, for their research projects. The research of Drs Londhe and Wairkar was titled "Topical Foam Composition Comprising Mupirocin," while Dr Londhe's work was titled "Microneedles fabrication with better drug loading and delivery systems."

The SERB research grant (CRG/2018/003176), which discusses the manufacture of hydrophilic microneedles with improved incorporation of the antipsychotic medication iloperidone, is the source of Dr Londhe's patent. In contrast to oral administration, which had less rapid therapeutic results, preclinical investigations demonstrated that microneedle delivery of the medicine boosted the drug concentration and its duration in the blood and brain. Iloperidone is only presently offered in tablet form on the market.

The novel formulation may prove to be a good substitute for the oral dosing form even if more clinical research is required. "Schizophrenia is a serious mental condition that affects sufferers' quality of life. The use of drugs and psychosocial support therapies is crucial to the treatment. According to Dr Vaishali Londhe, PG programme Chairperson, MPharm., PhD, SPPSPTM, NMIMS, "the novel development of iloperidone microneedles is intended to bring new hope to individuals suffering from the ailment."

Dr Wairkar's discovery, meantime, relates to a foam formulation of the topical antibiotic Mupirocin, which is frequently applied to burn wounds and traumatic skin lesions. Mupirocin is now sold as a cream formulation that must be administered directly to the skin or wound area.
She has created this Mupirocin foam, which has a rapid time to collapse, good spreadability, and exceptional antibacterial effectiveness, for topical application. Without touching the wound, it is readily administered at the desired location. Following the successful completion of clinical trials, it has been determined that the conventional topical dose form can be replaced with this improved formulation.

White Paper On ESG Investing By Students Of NMIMS Navi Mumbai Campus

September 20, 2022: A white paper was written by NMIMS Navi Mumbai Campus students about the growing significance of ESG investing and how institutional and retail investors use it to make investment decisions. Students who are pursuing a BSc in Economics and Finance put together and submitted the white paper, titled "Emerging Landscape of IPOs focused on ESG."

According to the white paper, fund managers from banks, sovereign pension funds, and global institutional brokerages evaluate companies based on their compliance with ESG standards. ESG must now be included in all future investment choices, according to more than 80% of institutional investors. In order to evaluate their long-term investment alternatives on numerous criteria, investors search for companies to report on their ESG compliance.

The study emphasises how important ESG is to the financial and fundamental credit analysis of a certain organisation. These variables evaluate a company's ethical standards and long-term investment viability. When choosing a company, many investors base their decision on ESG factors. As a result, businesses place a lot of importance on this idea. People are expecting more and more from businesses to implement environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable business practises.

In-depth analysis of documents like the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) of recently submitted and approved IPOs was another aspect of the research. The FabIndia IPO, which will take place in the near future, was highlighted in the white paper as a shining example of the Indian corporate sector. The research highlights various inclusive policies and sustainable practises of the company, referring to it as India's first ESG-focused IPO. According to the survey, FabIndia uses ethical and responsible business methods to empower and enable craftsmen, investors, and employees.

According to the white paper, FabIndia has used traditional knowledge that has been preserved to create its products. The handicraft goods' meticulousness and attention to detail distinguish FabIndia as an ethical manufacturer and ally of rural communities. By working directly with farmers and craftspeople, the company has increased both the quality and capacity of its products. As a result, it also enables women artisans locate employment opportunities near to their homes, enabling them to access a wide clientele across the entire country.

A number of ESG parameters and best practises are covered by FabIndia's distinctive business model, which is carried out for the first time in India. Since its founding sixty years ago, the umbrella-category retail brand has focused on creating sustainable, genuine, and Indian traditional lifestyle products as part of its ESG practise. By collaborating with a network of farmers and craftspeople throughout India, FabIndia has developed a distinctive supply-side community.

In the past ten years, as modernization has expanded quickly, FabIndia has taken a step further by integrating modernization and adjusting its historic roots to this transformation.

NMIMS School of Branding and Advertising Invites NR Narayana Murthy for a Think Tank Session

January 6, 2021: SVKM’s NMIMS School of Branding and Advertising recently welcomed pioneering business leader N R Narayana Murthy to an engaging virtual question and answer session with students. He instructed students that entrepreneurs should stop holding Plan B instead of giving their all to their venture. He appeared at the Think Tank Series, an engaging session with industry leaders hosted by the university. He addressed questions on a variety of subjects, from obstacles and mistakes encountered by entrepreneurs to his own philosophy and values.

The Think Tank Series is part of the school's experiential learning approach, where students get the opportunity to engage and learn from business executives and innovative practitioners. The goal is to provide them with a greater understanding of brand creation and entrepreneurship. Past speakers include advertising guru KV Sridhar, National Creative Director, Leo Burnett India; TV and theatre personality Cyrus Barocha; keynote speaker and Group President (Risk, Security, and New Ventures), Reliance Industries Ltd, Capt. Raghu Raman, acclaimed film directors Shekhar Kapur and Bharat Dabholkar among others.

Speaking at the interaction, N R Narayana Murthy said, “Entrepreneurs have a tremendous passion for their idea. They believe in their idea and are willing to work more than 20 hours a day. However, we must remember that luck also plays a very important role in the success of an idea. If luck is not coming your way, you have to analyse dispassionately and close your venture. But when you are running your enterprise, you cannot have a plan B and you cannot be half-hearted about your idea. You have to give your best as if there is no alternative at all. So, till you get a very clear message from the market that your idea is not going to set sail, please do not think of Plan B.”

For their own and the nation's advancement, he encouraged students to change their minds and resolve indiscipline, apathy, and dishonesty, while putting society's needs ahead of their own.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty, good placements, and a really good campus.

Placements: The BBA course may sound simple, but here it's quite different and only made for people who actually want to do it with their full will. Our college offers a lot of placements. The recent one I saw was BigBasket. We have a placement team, and we got 32 placements last year.

Bad placements, underqualified faculty, good course structure.

Placements: Not many good opportunities were given, and the system of working was very consistent. As it is a fairly new course, the issue might be due to a lack of connections. It was handled by students rather than teachers, which was really surprising.
