Q:   Is OUAT good for B.Sc.?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Is OUAT good for B.Sc?

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's what we've gathered:

Placement Opportunities: Unfortunately, OUAT doesn't have a strong record when it comes to placement opportunities for B.Sc students. According to several reviews, students often struggle to find employment immediately after graduating, and may need to rely on government jobs or higher education.

Course Curriculum: While the course curriculum is considered relevant and industry-ready, some students feel that it's too heavy and requires a significant amount of effort to manage.

Facilities and Infrastructure: On the positive side, the campus has a good environment, Wi-Fi connectivity, and modernized laboratories. However, some students have reported issues with the hostel facilities, including poor maintenance and limited amenities.

Teaching Quality: Faculty members are generally considered knowledgeable and helpful, although some students have mentioned that they're not as accessible as they could be.

Campus Life: The campus has a mix of good and not-so-good aspects. While there are cultural programs and sports meets, some students have noted that there aren't many recreational activities available.

Admission Process: Admissions are based on an entrance examination and counseling process, with preference given to students who perform well academically.

Here are some key takeaways:

* Placement opportunities are limited, and students may need to consider alternative options
* The course curriculum is demanding and requires significant effort
* Campus facilities and infrastructure vary, with some students reporting concerns about hostel conditions
* Teaching quality is generally good, although accessibility varies among faculty members
* Campus life has a mix of positives and negatives, with limited recreational activities available

Overall, while OUAT has its strengths, B.Sc students may want to weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.

A:

The cost of attending Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) can vary depending on several factors. College is very good in terms of quality of education.
Placements: College is good at providing internships. You will also get a scholarship here, no doubt. BSC and MSc degrees are both available here. Student union formation also takes place here so if a student is interested in a leadership program, he/she can start their career here also.
Infrastructure: Our hostel takes little extra charge than other government colleges, but the quality of food is best here as they provide 3 to 4 days of non-vegetarian meals. And the hostel fees are also good and rooms are being cleaned here . New hostels are continuing to shift students from old to new.
Faculty: In a year, college gives 2 semester exams and 2 internal exams and all . Rest all the other co-curricular activities are also held here so that you can start your vocabulary skills here and other public speaking and written skills and other self-personal development here .

I am highly satisfied with the good teaching faculty.
Placements: The highest salary is 10 lakhs per annum, the average salary is 6 lakhs per annum, and the lowest salary is 3 lakhs per annum. Above 72% of students get placed. The top recruiting companies are DuPont India Ltd and Rasi Seeds. The top roles are farm manager and quality assurance. Sixty percent of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The campus provides good hostel facilities with separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostel contains 24-hour hot water, and the food provided is good. We have a beautiful mess that can accommodate around 500 students. The infrastructure is good, and our department has separate blocks. The labs are well-equipped, and a library is also available, along with Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Many faculty members are well-trained and have a lot of experience, with most of them being Ph.D. holders. They possess good knowledge and are all helpful to the students, always clarifying our doubts. The course curriculum is good, and the pass percentage is 68%.

B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering - Batch of 2024
2.8
2Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty2Crowd & Campus Life2Value for Money
Dissatisfied with industrial network for placements.
Placements: Approximately 25–30% of the batch, typically comprising 60–70 students, secure placements. The highest package offered is around 6–8 lpa, while the average package is around 3–4 lpa. Renowned companies such as Amul, Mahindra, Escorts, Vst, and NGOs like Pradan actively participate in the placement process. Internships hold significant value and are often pursued at central institutions and other core startups. Sales executive roles dominate the placement offers, with no emphasis on core subjects.
Infrastructure: The university offers a vast Central Library with ample access to trustworthy resources. Additionally, there is a sports complex equipped with a variety of facilities and opportunities to participate in inter-university competitions. The classrooms and labs are efficiently organized, catering to research work at the university level. The hostel provides all necessary amenities, including average food, washing machines, and geysers.
Faculty: The faculty members in this government agricultural institution possess extensive knowledge, but the curriculum does not adequately prepare students for the industry. However, those interested in pursuing lectureships and research should consider this course, as it offers a unique perspective on allied sectors of agriculture. While the semester exams are not overly easy, they are also not excessively difficult. The passing percentage is 50u2105, with practical marks accounting for approximately 20 marks.
Other: Admission to this college is granted based on the state-level entrance examination, and I was fortunate enough to secure a place in this course. However, there is room for improvement in terms of the course curriculum and placement opportunities. The college offers numerous scholarships and various opportunities, like international internships and participating in festivals at different colleges.

Really satisfied with the faculty but not so much with the infrastructure. But it is getting better.
Placements: Around 30 students are present in each batch, while placement of our batch still hasn't happened because it's our 3rd year in the college. All the students mostly get enrolled in some kind of internship in different hospitals as nutritionists. Top roles offered are those of nutritionists, researchers, and professors in multiple subjects in the course.
Infrastructure: The college has the availability of all basic facilities of classrooms, labs, a good library, and multiple other constructions for better facilities are going on. The hostel facility is good, with proper medical facilities available and proper space and competition for sports and games.
Faculty: Teachers are really qualified and knowledgeable, and the quality of teaching is really good too. This course is somewhat relevant as it has a good effect on student understanding of the course. Semester exams are more difficult than one would think, while the pass percentage is good.
Other: The best thing about this course is that one gets to study multiple subjects and can follow any one path. I wish they would improve the college infrastructure.

Good campus always encourages good studies.
Placements: There are almost 250 students from every batch. Placement offers are newly added in our college. Both the banking sectors and agriculture sectors are offering the placement. 20-30 percent of the students are selected in the placement interview. Canara Bank and Punjab National Bank are mostly offering the placement to the students, and many other oil SEED companies and agriculture-related companies are also offering the opportunities to the students.
Infrastructure: In our college, they provide Wi-Fi and the latest technology installed in labs. Classrooms are digitalized and have AC-fitted rooms. In our hostels are developing now with new infrastructure. It will look like an old one, but the college is fully equipped with the latest technology, installed rooms, and mechanisms.
Faculty: Faculty and curriculum are mostly favorable to the students, and the teaching faculty are always encouraging the students for studies, sports, and other cultural activities. Faculty will support the students in exam times. Most of the students passed the semester exams. Faculty conduct the practical with students by the farmers. It is most helpful for the students to know about actual farming work.
Other: It was the 2nd old agricultural college in India. Most of the students are holding jobs in banking sectors and civil services.

Not satisfied as my expectations were high, but the college is not as I expected it to be.
Placements: In Bhubaneswar, some students got placed, but in Chiplima Agriculture College, no one was placed because students don't want to work in private companies with a wage of 15,000 to 20,000. In our college, students are focusing on UPSC and banking-related examinations, and many students also get jobs every year. Many students are placed under OPSC as Assistant Agriculture Officers.
Infrastructure: In hostels, Wi-Fi is installed and in the college as well. Air conditioning is present in the classrooms, and smart boards are available for writing purposes. The hostel rooms are well-furnished with marble flooring and cupboards with a lock system provided. Each student is given a chair, study table, and bed by the college. In some rooms, one fan is provided, and in others, two fans are provided. Overall, the infrastructure is good.
Faculty: To be eligible as OUAT faculty, one must complete their Ph.D.; after that, they are eligible. Teachers are quite helpful and very knowledgeable, and some faculty members come from research backgrounds. In my opinion, the course is relevant, but it needs some improvement so that everyone can get placed in agriculture-related fields. Semester examinations are not too difficult; one can easily pass.
Other: From my school days, I wanted to take admission in agriculture college as I am from an agricultural family. Placements should be given. A lot of events, programs, campaigns, and competitions are organized in our college. A minimum of 50 to 60 percent of students get scholarships every year, and it is around 20,000 per year.
