March 14, 2021: Tamil Nadu based one of the renowned science and engineering institutes, Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) hosted the 28th convocation ceremony today.
Dr K Veeramani, the esteemed Chancellor, presided over the ceremony and conferred degrees on 1,172 graduates from the faculties of architecture and planning, engineering and technology, computing sciences and engineering, and humanities, sciences, and management. The graduates include 748 men and 424 women, 26 PhDs, 6 MPhils, 24 Gold medals, 21 Silver medals, and 19 Bronze medals for meritorious graduates. Professor Dr Sonajharia Minz, Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand's Sido Kanhu Murmu University, was invited as Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. She wished for both parents and students to express gratitude to the Institution for imparting information for more than three decades. She shared her joy at seeing the turn of the student body into one filled with more passion and imagination. The Chief Guest said that after graduation, every student must consider the significance of ideals, self-esteem, and gender equality. Furthermore, society expects young and enthusiastic brains to open up new opportunities for the less fortunate. She wished all graduates to inspire more people, to dream more, and to continue to be individuals in order to change society.
