Review of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Placements: In the electrical course, placements are very less. Only a few companies visit the college for placements. Mainly software data analyst companies visit the college and students have to do a lot of hard work in that profile to get placed. Even after doing that much hard work, it is not sure that they will get placed as companies hire only 2-3 students.
Infrastructure: The college is an old generation, but it was built before independence. Classrooms are not modern. Labs of core subjects are good, but the staff members are not good. Students will not learn anything from teachers there. The library is good, but it is small, according to the college's strengths.
Faculty: Very few teachers are good. Most of the teachers just bring material written on paper and simply copy it on the blackboard without explaining anything. The course curriculum does not make students industry-ready as it only gives bookish knowledge not practical knowledge. Exams are easy and just by studying one week before exams, students can get good marks.
Other: My first preference was CSE but I could not get it because of rank, so I chose this course.

    Good Academics and Campus Life.
Placements: The Placement statistics of the college are quite good, since it has a good reputation. The placements and internships are majorly offered to circuit branches. The non-circuit branches face little issues during placement, but nonetheless, they also get placed. The top companies visiting the college are: Microsoft, JP Morgan, Amex, McKinsey, Brain, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, a little old since the institution has 100 years of legacy, but overall it is good. Wi-Fi connectivity is good. The classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms, and labs are good and have modern technology. There is a library which does have reading halls. There are 4 boys' and 2 girls' hostels, and they are well maintained. The quality of food is pretty okay.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, if approached in the right manner. The course curriculum is well designed. Students are given industrial exposure through internships as well. There are mid-sems and end-sems, and they are relatively difficult but easily managed if studied properly.
Other: There are a lot of activities held throughout the year, as the college has many clubs and societies according to the interests of students. The crowd is also quite good, since people get admission here after clearing JEE. There is a fest held every year named PECFEST, which has a lot of fun events and activities all around. The students of the college participate in various inter-college competitions, which help them overcome their fear, show their talent, and boost their overall personality.

Pec Chandigarh: Deemed to be University.
Placements: 70% of students were placed last year. This year, placements are low due to the recession. Top recruiting companies include JP Morgan and American Express. Top roles offered are SDE, data analyst, CADP, and finance roles. Almost 50% of students received internship offers, and some even got PPOs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average, with Wi-Fi facilities all over the campus. Classrooms are air-conditioned with smart boards. Hostels are average, as expected from government colleges, but the mess food is decent, with a variety of dishes available.
Faculty: Most faculty members are serious about their core subjects, though first-year subject teachers are a bit relaxed. Most faculty have PhDs from IITs and foreign universities. The course curriculum is relevant to modern needs and flexible, with the college making timely updates. Semester exams are not too tough, and most students pass them.

Regretting my decision to take admission to Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Placements: Earlier, the placement cell was good, but now, due to the ongoing recession and the college's low NIRF ranking, not many companies prefer to come. Those that do come do not offer a high package. For the civil branch this year, only two companies came, offering a package of 6-7 LPA. None of the students got internships in civil companies from the placement cell and had to go for off-campus opportunities. The top role offered was that of a graduate engineer trainee position.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very poor as it has not been repaired for a long time. Occasionally, painting is done only in areas visible to the chief guests called upon in our college. Classrooms are infected by termites, and provisions for AC are not there. The food quality of the mess is good and hygienic. Facilities for sports and games are also provided.
Faculty: All the teachers are highly qualified, but the curriculum followed is now old and should be updated with changing demands. Being old, the curriculum does not make the students industry-ready, and students have to manage it themselves. Semester exams are easy to moderate, and because of relative grading, it is easier to pass.

Above average college, decent faculty, good placements, decent infra and facilities.
Placements: In 2023, almost 65 percent of the students in the Electrical Engineering branch were placed, which is far better than many NITs in that year. Top companies recruiting include Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, JP Morgan, and many more. The highest package in 2023 was around 60 lakhs for the CS branch.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is okay and sometimes works. Hostels are not very pleasing, but it doesn't matter as people around you make it worth it. Mess food is quite low quality in some hostels. Sports facilities are good if you have represented any of the sports. The labs and classrooms are decent.
Faculty: The semester-wise fee is 94,000, and the hostel fee is 80k. The teachers in the college are decent, and some professors are really qualified. Semester exams are quite difficult. The course curriculum for the Electrical branch was revised this year and is now industry-ready.
Other: Pecfest is the only fest in the college. The campus is located in Chandigarh, a good place to travel, and you can often travel to Himachal during your holidays.

    Good placements, bad infrastructure.
Placements: The placement cell of our college is very active and responsible. Many major companies and MNCs come for internships and placements, such as Microsoft, Goldman, Amex, JP Morgan, McKinsey, etc. The average package is around 8 LPA. Our placement cycle starts in the 7th semester, and the internship cycle starts in the 5th semester.
Infrastructure: The library is very small, and the food area or cafeteria is very poorly maintained. Medical and sports facilities are good, and we have many events too. Wi-Fi is okayish and does not work in some buildings. The hostels are not good either, with poor infrastructure.
Faculty: The faculty is really helpful and qualified in their fields of study. The course structure is appropriate, with a good mixture of classroom study and labs. We also have an industrial tour which makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are tough, and the pass percentage is 30%.
