{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Is BE/BTech at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) a good choice?

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

Teaching Quality and Faculty

* Most teachers are not experienced, and some are even freshers themselves
* Limited practical knowledge imparted during classes
* Not all faculty members are well-educated or well-experienced
* Some faculty members treat students well and are supportive

Placements

* Less than 20% of students get placed through campus recruitment
* Average salary package offered is around INR3 LPA
* the highest package offered is up to INR6 LPA
* Few companies visit the college for placements, such as L&T, Tech Mahindra, and Ultratech
* Students may need to rely on their own abilities to secure jobs after graduation

Campus Life and Infrastructure

* College has a large campus and good infrastructure
* Library, laboratory, and recreational facilities are available
* Hostel facilities are average, with issues like cracked walls and seepage
* No Wi-Fi connectivity in hostels and classrooms
* Canteen services are mediocre

Scholarship and Support

* College offers scholarships and events to encourage participation
* Supportive faculty members and helpful environment

Overall, while RTMNU has its strengths, such as good infrastructure and supportive faculty, there are areas where improvement is necessary, particularly regarding teaching quality, placements, and hostel facilities. Students considering pursuing a BE/BTech degree at RTMNU should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.E./B.Tech Courses at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University

* Limited Job Opportunities: The placement cell does not provide good placement opportunities to students, particularly for B.E./B.Tech courses. The highest package offered is up to INR5 lacs.
* Few Companies Visit Campus: Not many companies visit the college for placements, with some exceptions such as Amazon, which hires around 2-3 students per year.
* Students Need to Arrange Final Internship: Unlike other colleges, the university does not provide internships for its students. Instead, students need to arrange their own final internship, which can be beneficial for future placement offers.

Note: The effectiveness of the placement cell at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University seems limited, with few job opportunities available for B.E./B.Tech students. However, students may still find placement through other means, such as open campus drives or self-arranged internships.

Placements are good, could be better because the number of recruiters coming to the campus for their recruitment drive is relatively low and the institute can further strengthen this.

"Excellent Infrastructure and Supportive Faculty". .
Placements: Approximately 60-70% of students from the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering course were placed. The highest package offered was ?12 LPA, while the lowest was ?3 LPA. The average package range between ?4.5 and ?5 LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, and L&T Infotech, offering roles in software development, network engineering, and quality analysis. The placement cell is proactive in organizing drives and preparing students for industry requirements, ensuring good opportunities for both technical and managerial roles. This highlights the college? S focus on bridging the gap between academic learning and professional application, ensuring student success in the job market.
Infrastructure: The Electronics and Telecommunication department offers advanced labs like DSP, VLSI, and Microprocessors, ensuring hands-on learning. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, with spacious classrooms and a well-stocked library for academic growth. Hostel rooms are clean and available on twin/triple sharing. The mess provides hygienic meals, while the canteen serves affordable snacks. Medical facilities include a first-aid room and tie-ups with nearby hospital. Sports facilities for cricket, football, basketball, and more promote extracurricular activities. The college? S infrastructure supports both academic and personal growth, creating a comfortable and productive environment for students.
Faculty: The faculty is highly qualified, approachable, and ensures students understand core concepts through interactive teaching and practical projects. The curriculum is well-structured, covering Communication Systems, Microprocessors, DSP, and IoT, with industry-relevant topics preparing students for emerging technologies. While robust, interacting tools like AI and 5G could enhance readiness further. Exams are moderate challenging, focusing on theoretical and practical knowledge, requiring consistent preparation. Approximately 85-90% of students pass each semester, with many achieving distinction. The combination of experienced faculty, a relevant curriculum, and balanced exams provides students with a strong foundation for academic and professional success.
Other: The college organizes two major annual fests: Technex, a technical fest, and Insight, a cultural fest, which offer a platform to showcase talents and build network. Regular departmental events like seminars, workshops, and competitions keep students engaged and up-to-date. The campus crowd is diverse and friendly, fostering a positive environment.

YCCE great placements but needs significant improvements.
Placements: 70% of students are in my course. The lowest package is about 2-2.5 LPA, the average package is about 3.5-4 LPA, and the highest package is about 8-9 LPA. Companies that visit us are LG Electronics, Mahindra and Mahindra LTD, Medicaocean Asian Pvt Ltd, and many more companies also many IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Accenture, Byjus, Wipro, AWS, etc. 30-40% of students get internships in my branch. It depends on their interest and work in the direction of my branch. PCB designer, Field service engineer, quality assurance engineer, network engineer, communication engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not good as as the fee structure. Hostel rooms are decent again not as much attractive they are as they are charging. Mess is so bad. No taste in lunch, dinner, breakfast, some gets affected by food poisoning after eating messy food. No medical facility is provided only fake. No ground in college for sports no courts and resources for playing. Canteens are decent but charge higher than the students.
Faculty: Teachers are experienced and well-qualified. Some of the teachers are very helpful always guiding students about placements and the future. Teaching is good. No College doesn't help students to get ready for industry, students have to do it on their own. The reason is the college timing, students don't get extra time for their passion. To work on their skills to explore new things. The exams are quite challenging, not too much hard and too much easy, moderate type of exam. The pass percentage is 92%.
Other: The first thing to improve is college has to arrange seminars on various future technologies and upcoming job opportunities. The second thing is adding useless subjects to the syllabus, all are learning these subjects in their lower classes. Third is no active event in college. For example, sports events, singing events, and dancing events colleges are not focusing on nurturing the talent of students they are killing their dreams. The main thing to improve about this college is charging a lot of money from students.

Below-average college as compared to other gov. colleges.
Placements: Every year, almost 90% of students appearing for placements in my course are placed, most from on-campus and others from off-campus opportunities. I'm currently in my 3rd year, and the situation of the batch of my seniors (passing out in 2024) is pretty bad because of the recession in the IT industry. The maximum package offered on campus is 5 LPA this year. The highest package offered on campus was 9 LPA by Infosys. Zoho was the only product-based company that used to come to our college, but it has not come since summer 2023 until now and probably won't now because of the recession. It also offered summer internships, being the only company that offered internships at our college through the campus. The lowest package offered was 3.4 LPA by TCS and the average package for the 2023 batch was approximately 5 LPA (2024 batch placements aren't complete yet) Top recruiting companies for CSE: TCS, Persistent, Zoho, Hexaware technologies, crave infotech, SopeoNow, infosys, etc. Internships: On-campus internships aren't available; only Zoho used to come for that, but it came last time in 2022 for internships for CSE. And when it used to come, it took 3–4 students from CSE. Talking about off-campus internships, about 20–30% of students get them, and in small companies, they are paid the bare minimum or not at all.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout the whole campus; computer labs are good with fast PCs; classrooms are digital; and the library is good too. There is no canteen available yet as of 3/3/24, boys hostel has an intake of 180 students and has 6 floors; the girls hostel has intake of 100 students and has 4 floors Both hostels have lifts, and the cleanliness is good. Only 1 flaw in the boys hostel is that it currently has only 2 drinking water machines, 1 on the 2nd floor and one on the 5th floor. There are no medical facilities available, and 1 college field is available on approximately. 5 acres for sports and sports events. Gymkhana has sports kits available for some sports.
Faculty: Only 2 teachers are in the permanent faculty in CSE; 1 is our HOD, ma'am, and 1 more sir is there. Other teachers are visiting faculty. They are qualified; two permanent teachers have Ph.D.s, but their teaching skills are very poor. Some of them are helpful and some aren't; the teaching quality is below average; they don't care if students get the concepts or not; they only explain some part of each PPT's slides and try to move on to the next slides quickly. The course curriculum is relevant, but it does not make the students industry-ready, obviously (just like 90% of other Indian colleges). Semester exams are not very tough but not very easy either; they are conducted by RTMNU in other college centres. The toppers has reached to 8.7 sgpa in 4th semester of our batch. The pass percentage is 98%.
Other: I chose CSE because I love building web apps. The best thing is that computer science is a very welcoming field for newcomers and has diverse applications. Improvements for CSE in my college would be coding competitions, hackathons, more seminars and alumni meets, and CSE-specific teachfests organized by the college. Coding culture is heavily missing. Events: Annual sports event: Sfoorti (about 10 types of sports are played) Annual teach fest: Adhyaaya for 3 days (includes 5–6 types of technical competitions, 4-5 types of non-technical competitions, and 3–4 seminars) Annual cultural fest: Oranz for 3 days (includes bollywood day, cultural day and main day with dance, drama, singing, fashion show, costumes show and dj night) The campus is very small, i.e., only 12 acres. It is located in a suburb of Nagpur, i.e., in New Khapri, Nagpur. college has various clubs, including IIC (institute innovation council), GDSC, Rotaract club, music club, astronomy club, robotics club, etc. Basic scholarships offered by the Maharashtra government through the MahaDBT portals are available.

If students want a good engineering college, then have a look here.
Placements: Approximately 60% of students get placed in companies. The highest salary package offered ranges from 7-8 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 3-4 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 2.5 LPA. Accenture, Wipro, and Tata are the top recruiting companies of our course. There are also various startup companies for recruitment. Almost every student gets internships from the CSE department and the college takes guarantees of it. Students got internships in companies like Accenture, Tata, Wipro, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in every corner of the campus. There are fully furnished and clean labs in each department. It has a separate 2-storey building for the library, and you can find books of any educational background. The college does not have its own hostel. However, you will find the best hostels, rooms, mess, cafes, and medical facilities within walking distance. The canteen serves the best food of quality, hygiene, and quantity.
Faculty: Teachers are fully qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. Each teacher has over 10 years of teaching experience. Senior teachers are also members of the national IT committee. Their teaching quality is very good. Teachers are very helpful and interactive. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes the students capable of learning. It is an autonomous institution, so the semester exams are conducted in the college. They are making question papers a bit difficult to train the students to work hard. The pass percentage by university criteria is 45%.
Other: I chose this course because it is the most highly demanded course in today's time. The best thing is by coincidence I met the best teachers and the coolest faculty members. Our department keeps getting better by making minor changes in studying patterns to improve students' learning skills. Events are organised on a monthly basis depending on the festivals to refresh students' minds. One major event is organised at the start of the year in which cultural, sports, fests and everything can be seen. The campus surroundings are decent for students. There are PGs in surroundings. Everything is available within walking distance. Teachers take responsibility for the scholarship.

Excellent infrastructure, quality education, and vibrant campus life.
Placements: As an ECE student graduating in 2026, 70% of our batch secured placements. The salary package offered is around 3.5 LPA to 8 LPA. The average salary package offered is 5.75 LPA. Top recruiters include Cognizant and TCS. All students got internships with roles like data engineer and analyst. ECE ensures strong industry readiness.
Infrastructure: The ECE department offers top facilities with Wi-Fi, projectors in classrooms, and labs with updated systems. The library is well-stocked. Hostels are comfortable. The food quality in the canteen is good. Sports facilities are excellent. A medical center ensures care, creating a great learning environment.
Faculty: ECE faculty members are highly qualified and helpful. They ensure quality teaching with practical insights. The curriculum is industry-relevant, covering core and emerging topics like AI and IoT, with hands-on learning. Exams are moderately tough. The pass rates are high. Overall, it ensures students are well-prepared for careers.
Other: I chose ECE for its blend of hardware and software skills. The best aspects are its industry relevance and hands-on projects. Improvements could include more modern labs. The campus is vibrant with fests, a diverse crowd, good connectivity, and scenic surroundings. Scholarships and extracurricular enhance student life greatly.
