Q:   I got 79 percentile in JEE Mains and 66% in Class 12. Will I get admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur?

    A:

Based on the information you've provided, your JEE Mains percentile of 79 is decent and could be a competitive score for admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur. However, your class 12 percentage of 66% might be slightly below the usual cutoff for some courses at the university. To increase your chances of admission, I recommend checking Sastra University's official website or contacting their admission department for the specific cutoff scores and eligibility criteria for the course you are interested in.

Sastra University is known for its competitive admission process, and the cutoff marks can vary each year. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to make an informed decision.

In case your JEE Mains percentile meets or exceeds the cutoff set by Sastra University for your desired course, you stand a good chance of getting admission. However, if the cutoff is higher, you may consider other options or explore different courses that align with your JEE Mains score and class 12 percentage.

Remember, admissions to universities can be competitive, and it's always a good idea to have backup options. There are many other reputable institutions that offer quality education in engineering and other fields. Research thoroughly, consider all available choices, and apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of getting accepted.

I wish you the best of luck with your admission process, and I hope you find the right university and course that aligns with your academic goals and aspirations!"

Absolutely good compared to other colleges because of the feel and also good placements.
Placements: Averagely, 60-70% students were placed in my course before going out of college. Coming to the highest package, it is 2,400,000 per annum, and the lowest package is 300,000 per annum. The average package is about 700,000 per annum. Top recruiting companies in the IT background are Deloitte, Wells Fargo, Fidelity, PayPal, and many MNC companies. Many of them got internships too in companies like Roche, Fidelity, Wells Fargo, and PayPal.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure available in the college is good compared to some other colleges. High-speed internet through Wi-Fi is available all over the campus. The labs are also highly specialized and equipped with the latest systems and advanced technologies. In the library, we can get good books regarding subjects and also storybooks, and the online database is available for academic and research purposes. It is quite an environment to study in.
Faculty: Some of the teachers are highly experienced in Sastra, and some are not up to the mark. For IT students, the subjects are good, but the faculty is not good. They will explain the PPT slides and what is there in them. Semester exams are not that difficult as we are taught, and the passing marks are 50 in the subject we need to score. The curriculum makes the students industry-ready, and they can sit for placements.
Other: I chose IT because the IT industry is booming in the future. I wish some of the faculty could be improved because the subjects are good for us, but the faculty is not up to that level. Intra-college events like Kuruksastra (a cultural event), Daksh (a technical event), and Colosseum (a sports event) are held. Additionally, extracurricular activities like dance, music, singing, and some workshops are conducted during holidays. Scholarships provided by national scholarship portals are available in Sastra.

    Think Merit, Think SASTRA.
Placements: About 80% got placed. The highest package is 45 LPA, the least package is 3 LPA, and the average is 8 LPA. TCS, Accenture, IBM, Comcast, Deloitte, Delta Electronics, Collins Aerospace, PayPal, Amazon, etc., offered full-time. Infosys, Comcast, PayPal, and Pick Your Rail offered internships.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure in the college is good. Wi-Fi is available in both the hostel and college 24/7. The library is calm, where all the books are available. Food in the mess is average, but on the other hand, it is healthy food they offer, like sprouts, etc.
Faculty: Faculty in the college are well-trained and have good experience in teaching. If we have any doubts, they will definitely help us at any time. Coming to the semester exams and internal exams, they have a good combination of questions that improve our thinking. Marks allotment is straightforward. Pass percentage is 80%.
Other: Sastra is meant for merit, where no management quota is allowed, which is the best thing.

    Dissatisfied about placements after corona.
Placements: About 60% of students get placements on campus. The highest salary offered was 33 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. Fifty percent of students get internships. The top recruiting companies are TCS, IBM, Accenture, Capgemini, Infotech, L&T, Asian Paints, and Microsoft.
Infrastructure: The college has a good library with all the books I need. It also has a lot of canteens, which is convenient. However, the mess food is not suitable for most Telugu people. The hostels are not that great, but they are okay for the price. There is a medical hospital on campus, and if there is an emergency, the hostel wardens will take you to an outside hospital.
Faculty: All the teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching was understandable, and all the teachers completed the syllabus on time, well before the upcoming exams. The semester exams were above average in difficulty, which helped us understand the questions and execute them.
Other: I chose this course because I thought it was the best option after MBBS in the medical field. I liked that it gave me the flexibility to choose either research or software. However, I think the campus placements for our course could be improved.

Placements: While the specific placement percentage for the ECE department is not detailed, the overall placement rate for B.Teach programs at SASTRA University is approximately 95.62%. The highest salary package reported for the ECE branch is 28.5 LPA. The median salary for B.Tech in ECE in past years is reported as 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering SE houses specialized labs equipped with modern instruments to facilitate practical learning and research. Classrooms are designed to enhance the learning experience, equipped with necessary teaching aids to support effective pedagogy.
Faculty: The ECE department boasts a team of highly qualified faculty members, many holding advanced degrees such as M.Teach and Ph.D., coupled with substantial industry experience. This blend ensures that students receive an education grounded in both theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Other: The University's cultural fest, features competitions, workshops, and performances. A technical fest offering hackathons, robotics competitions, and coding challenges.

Good infrastructure for research and cheaper.
Placements: 90% of students get placed in Sastra for other courses, but there are not many companies that offer jobs for students who have completed B.Tech in Aerospace. So, I am planning to complete my higher studies abroad. However, the placement opportunities are good in Sastra, and most of my senior friends have gotten into good companies. The highest placement was 42 LPA in 2023.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi is available for everyone on the college campus and in the hostel (only for laptops). Hostels outside the campus have good infrastructure, but the water is hard, so it affects hair. You cannot expect much from mess food. The hostel is liberal, and you can do whatever you want without disturbing others. There is good infrastructure for aerospace and good facilities if you want to pursue research.
Faculty: Most faculty members are good, except a few. They are helpful and do not show discrimination. Some faculty members are overly dependent on PowerPoint presentations. There are three internal exams (CIA), out of which the best 2 marks are selected. Semester exams are easier than CIA exams. You have to try to score well in the first two CIAs, as the 3rd CIA is for the full portion.
Other: There are three main events during the even semester: Colosseum, Daksh, and Kuruksastra. Colosseum is a sports event, Daksh is a technical event, and Kuruksastra is a cultural event. There are small events during the odd semester. There are not many festival events.

Review of Srinivasa Ramanujan Center, SASTRA.
Placements: There are many students who placed every year. But this year there is a very less percentage of placements on campus. The average package is 6 LPA. 70-80% of students got internships from my course and there are companies like Infosys, TCS, Ninja, Capgemini, Comcast, etc.
Infrastructure: Compared to the main campus, this campus doesn't have any good infrastructure. There is a library in the college with limited seats. There is no hostel for Srinivasa Ramanjan Centre campus. There is a small canteen here with minimal items.
Faculty: The teachers are not highly qualified. But some of them are good. And knowledgeable. The teaching quality is okay. The semester and mid examinations were very difficult; they don't even give good marks. The faculty are very strict. The pass marks are 50 out of 100. Three will be 50-50 marks for CIAs.
