Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Bangalore, also known as SIU Bangalore, is a private university that was established in 2002 in Electronic City. It is one of the campuses of SIU Pune. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is accredited with an “A” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The Bangalore campus has two constituent institutes, namely Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) and Symbiosis School of Media & Communication (SSMC). The University offers MBA programme in various specialisations across its constituent institutes. It also offers an opportunity to its students or faculty to study at Lavale campus through the Symbiosis Summer School (SSS) programme.
Not only this, but the University has also signed MoUs with several international universities or schools for joint research, faculty development, student exchange and summer school programmes. Some of the collaborations are given below:

The University comprises several committees or boards for various academic activities. Some of the committees or boards include Board of Management, Planning & Monitoring Board, Finance Committee, Fee Structure Committee, University Sports Board, among others. It also has a Symbiosis Centre for European Studies (SCES) which offers international opportunities to the students through its connections with Europe. Apart from this, the University has collaborated with 54 Centres for Research Collaboration (CRC) that help students to conduct research-related activities.

SIU Bangalore Admission Process
The University offers admission to Indian as well as international students. The international admissions are taken care of by Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE). SIU Bangalore admissions are conducted under the guidance of SIU Pune. Candidates, who meet the given eligibility criteria, need to apply online through the official website SIU Pune. The course-wise eligibility details are mentioned below:
- Admission to MBA programme is based on SNAP scores
- Executive MBA admissions are done on merit basis
- Candidates, who have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, can apply for any of the programmes
- Final selection of MBA students is based on the SNAP scores and their performance in Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT)
- Final selection of students for Executive MBA is based on the scores obtained in graduation and their performance in PIWAT
The University has an overall intake of more than 250 students. Out of these, some of the seats are reserved for SC, ST, PwD category and international students. Below mentioned is the category-wise SIU Bangalore reservation criteria:

SIU Bangalore Courses
Presently, the University offers MBA in nine different specialisations across its constituent institutes. Apart from the full-time MBA programme, it also offers an Executive MBA under SIBM. The duration of both the programmes is two years each. The classes for full-time MBA programme are conducted regularly, whereas classes for Executive MBA are conducted only on weekends. The eligibility details regarding SIU Bangalore courses are given in the table below:

Note: Candidates, who are in final year examinations, can also apply. Such candidates need to submit a proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

SIU Bangalore Scholarships
SIU Bangalore offers various scholarships on merit and needs-basis. Candidates, who are eligible for the scholarships, need to fill an application form through the official website of SIU Pune to apply for any of the scholarships. Details regarding SIU Bangalore scholarships are given below:
- MBA Scholarship for IIT Graduates: Students, who have completed their bachelor’s degree from IITs and have appeared for SNAP, are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is given to only five students from IITs. Candidates can get a tuition fee waiver of 20 per cent under this scholarship.
- University Sports Scholarship: The national, international, state and intervarsity-level players are awarded with a scholarship of Rs 24,000. This scholarship is given to five students every year.
- PG Merit Scholarship: Students, who have secured a minimum GPA of 7.50 in a semester, are eligible for this scholarship. Candidates can avail 50 per cent tuition fee waiver under this scholarship.
- NER Scholarship for North-East Region students: Students, who belong to the North-East region and have appeared for SET/ SNAP or any other entrance exam conducted by SIU, are eligible for this scholarship. General category students must have secured at least 50 per cent aggregate in Class 12, whereas SC/ ST students need to secure at least 45 per cent aggregate in Class 12 to apply for this scholarship.

Apart from the above-mentioned scholarships, the University also gives a Jayatee Deshmukh Award to a girl student. The criteria cover academic performance as well as achievements in the field of extracurricular/ cultural/ sports activities and participation in social activities.
