History of UNIRAJ University of Rajasthan:

After the Act for the Allahabad University was passed, the efforts for an individual University for the Rajputana State was initiated in early 1921.
The University of Rajputana came into existence on January 8, 1947.
RU Jaipur had Dr. G.S. Mahajani (Principal of Ferguson College, Poona), as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University
The first foundation stone of Rajasthan University of Rajasthan campus was laid by Shri C. Rajagopalachari on February 20, 1949
Initially, UNIRAJ was affiliating 22 colleges in different part of the states which has grown to 281 now.
