USTM and the Gabonese Ministry of Higher Education Collaborated for Student Exchange and Research

August 8, 2023: On June 17, 2023, Dr Patrick Mouguiama Daouda, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Gabon, Josephine Patricia NTYAM-EHYA, First Counsellor, Embassy of Gabon in India, and other representatives from the nation paid a visit to USTM and participated in an interactive session with university staff and students. Before the visitors from abroad, USTM students also gave a lovely cultural presentation of the eight northeastern states. Dr Patrick Mouguiama-Daouda, the minister of higher education for Gabon, spoke to a sizable audience of students and faculty members and stressed his willingness to engage on inter-university initiatives while emphasising the significance of student and teacher mobility for higher education.

The agreement would serve as a mechanism for establishing a cooperation, particularly between USTM and other colleges in Gabon. For the first three years, our students can take their classes online before heading to India to continue their education. Students from India can also go to Gabon for additional education. I can guarantee you that Gabon is more than capable of managing the students who travel there for higher education. because Gabon has a very strict policy governing social aid for students. He said that the students' meals and lodging are also taken care of by the government of Gabon. The same advantages are also available to Indian students who travel to Gabon to study, he noted

Reality of USTM and should you take admission or not?

Placements: According to seniors, if you have a decent CGPA, you can directly be placed in good companies and have a good salary. And it doesn’t totally depend on the number of students, but 80% of them get placed without any issue with a median package of 5-6 LPA.

It is based on students' knowledge, performance, and grades. Our college provides us with the opportunity to take interviews, and if we pass the interview, we get the job.

Teachers are friendly and helpful. They try their level best to make students understand the topics.

Placements: Perfect semester students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Microsoft, Google, etc., visit our college for placements. The salary packages are offered in crores from the college. The percentage of students who get placements is more than 50%. My plan after my degree is to get a good placement.

The INs and OUTs of USTM.

Placements: Our course did not provide us with placement opportunities as it strictly adhered to a coaching environment, with the main goal of the course being the competitive examinations, namely UPSC. The course also did not encourage internships as it would take away the focus on academics and self-reading time for the students.
