What is DE-CODE?
Design Aptitude Test (DE-CODE) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur every year to shortlist the applicants for its various programs in Fashion & Textile Design, Interior & Product Design, and Graphics & Communication Design. Candidates qualifying the DE-CODE exam also get admission to VGU's partner university Invertis University, Bareilly.

Q: Â Do I have to give a personal interview if I clear the DE-CODE exam?
It is mandatory for the candidate to appear for personal interview in order to complete the admission process. Candidates who do not appear on the scheduled date will lose the chance to be admitted in the institute and the opportunity will be given to the next ranked candidate.
The final merit list of DE-CODE will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exam and the personal interview. The weightage for each exam component will be decided by the institute.
Q: Â When will the DE-CODE exam cut-off be released?
Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, will not release any cut-off for the entrance exam; instead, it will make available the list of selected candidates. The selected list will be released soon after the declaration of exam resuts.
Candidates may note that DE-CODE don't rank as one of the top entrance exams in the country unlike exams like NID DAT, UCEED, and NIFT. So, if you make a little bit of effort, you should easily get a good enough rank to get admission to VGU.
Q: Â What type of questions are asked in DAT?
In a Design Aptitude Test, candidates are asked drawing, sketching and general reasoning questions. The candidate needs to prepare for each question type to get a good score in DAT.

Q: Â Is it easy to crack DAT?
DAT entrance exam is considered to be moderate. IN NID DAT, more weightage is given to subjective, drawing related questions. Thus, candidates need to be extremely creative and have a clear understanding of their concepts when appearing for the DAT.
But note that difficulty level can also be subjective, as it may also depend on your level of preparation. For instance, if you prepare well, you may be able to solve even the so-called difficult questions easily.
Q: Â When will the NIFT 2025 application form open?
The online application form for NIFT 2025 is OPEN with regular fees from November 22-January 6, 2025.
With late fees, applications will be accepted from Janaury 7-9, 2025.
The application will be available online at niftadmissions.in. The NTA will also release the detailed admission notification, including the eligibility criteria and information brochure.
Candidates who met the precribed eligibility criteria for their programme can fill out the NIFT 2025 application form before the last date.
Note that NIFT application form will be for admission to the B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses offered by participating colleges.
Q: Â When will the NIFT 2025 entrance exam be conducted?
The written tests for the NIFT 2025 exam will be held on February 9, 2025. The detailed schedule has also been released.
The written tests will comprise a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates.
The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
DE-CODE Entrance Exam 2025 Application Process
The application form for DE-CODE 2025 is open online at the admission portal of the Center for Design Excellence. The application is for admission to the B.Des and other design courses offered by the institute.
To step-wise process to fill out the DE-CODE 2025 application form is given below.
Step 1: Registration
Candidates have to fill out the application form for the DE-CODE exam online on the official website of the design entrance exam. Click on the Apply Now link and fill in the details to register yourself.
Step 2: Fill in the Application Form
Fill in the details on the online application form and click Save. Since candidates' eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by them, they were required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish the details of their qualifications, etc. Candidates need to be ready with the scanned copy/soft copy (jpg, jpeg files) of educational documents, passport size photograph, signature, etc.Â
Step 3: Pay the Application Fee
Interested candidates have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 2000 to be able to take up the examination. The candidature of an individual will be confirmed only after the payment of the application fee. The application fee can be paid through the payment portal on the official website through any online mode of payment such as debit/credit card, or internet banking.
Step 4: Download the Admit Card
Candidates have to download DE-CODE 2025 admit card from the official website of the design school. Aspirants are informed that all the information/details regarding the DE-CODE exam and admit card were sent to them on their registered Email ID.
Step 5: Appear for DE-CODE Exam
DE-CODE is a computer-based online entrance exam. Candidates are provided with their login ID and password for the exam which they need to enter when appearing for the design aptitude test.Â
Step 6: Declaration of Result
The results of the DE-CODE exam are declared on the official website. Candidates can check their results using their registered email ID/roll number and their date of birth.Â
DE-CODE 2023 Eligibility CriteriaÂ
Aspirants applying for admission in Bachelor of Design (BDes) course meet DE-CODE 2025 eligibility criteria if they have cleared their HSC examination (10+2) or have completed their 10+2 level from any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination or any other recognised examination with minimum 45% aggregate marks.
Apart from this, candidates can also apply for admission if they have studied at any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries which is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities to be equivalent to 10+2 system with minimum 45% aggregate marks.
Another eligibility criterion of DE-CODE is that they should possess a three or four-year diploma which is recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education with a minimum 50% aggregate marks.
DE-CODE 2023 Admission Process
Candidates seeking admission to Vivekanand Global University, Jaipur, have to follow the process as under:
Step 1: The candidate has to first appear in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT)
Step 2: Candidates who qualify in the DAT have to next appear in a Personal Interview Round, which may comprise a Portfolio or Studio Test.
Step 3: Final Selection
The final selection of the candidates would be based on their cumulative performance in the DAT and Personal Interview.Â
Step 3: Appear for Counselling
Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list have to participate in a counseling session conducted at the university. The schedule of the counseling will be updated on the university admission portal.Â

Q: Â When do I need to start my preparation for NIFT 2025 exam?
The NIFT exam is among the competitive and is also considered among the toughest. So, it is recommended that the candidate starts their exam preparation well in advance, say with around 1 years time in hand. Note that the NIFT exam has various components like written exam and Situation Test /Personal Interview. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses need to prepare for both the CAT and GAT. The CAT is a drawing-based exam, meaning the candidate will be evaluated on parameters like intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development, and design ability. Now unless the candidate is already well-versed, developing these skills will take time. So, it is prudent to start early. The same goes for the GAT.
Q: Â When will the application forms for NID 2025 be released?
NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.
The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges.
The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.
The NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.
Q: Â When will the NID DAT 2025 Prelims exam be conducted?
The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam on January 5, 2025.
The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.
The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.
The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am.
The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

NIFT is one of the most important design entrance exams in the country.
It is also amongst the toughest and most competitive.
The good thing is there are parts between the two exams that overlap. So, you may also solve NIFT sample papers.

DE-CODE 2025 Syllabus

Q: Â What is the eligibility criteria for UCEED 2025?
To appear in the UCEED 2025 exam, the candidate needs to meet the following criteria:
Age limit: The candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2000. In the case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, there is a relaxation of 5 years.
Number of attempts - A candidate is allowed to appear in UCEED exam for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.
Academic requirements - The candidate must have passed 10+2 exam in 2024. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam in the exam year may also apply. Also, note that students from all streams are eligible for UCEED 2025.
Q: Â What is the application fee for UCEED 2025 exam?
The application form for UCEED 2025 has opened. As per the official notification, the application fee has been revised.
Here we provide the category-wise UCEED application fee.
- Female candidates (all categories) and SC/ST/PwD candidates had to pay INR 2,000.
- All other candidates needed to pay INR 4,000 as the application fee.
Mode of fee payment
The fee has to be paid online using credit card/ debit card/ internet banking. Note that the UCEED application fee is no-refundable. This means, once the fee is paid, it will not be refunded whether you appear in the UCEED 2025 exam or not.

The application form for UCEED 2025 is now closed.
The last date to apply with regular fee was October 31; with late fees, applications were accepted till November 18, 2024.
IIT Bombay opened the application form for UCEED 2025 on October 1, 2024. It also launched a new website and released the admission notification.

DE-CODE 2025 Pattern
DE-CODE exam will be in online mode. There will be two papers: Paper 1 (Aptitude test) and Paper 2 (Creativity Test). Paper 1 will be of one hour (60 minutes) duration comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The candidate seeking admission to the design courses offered at Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, has to first appear in the DE-CODE 2024 written exam. Scores of the exam will be then used to shortlist candidates for the next admission round, which includes a Studio Test and Personal Interview.
It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the exam components. If the candidate fails to do so, he or she will be disqualfiied from the admission process.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Stdio Test based on their peformance in the written exams.
