COVID-19: ICAI allows class 12 students to provisionally register for CA course
The CA Foundation exam is scheduled for June 27, 29 and July 1, 3.
CA exam regulator, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), relaxed the norms for the CA Foundation course. Chartered Accountant (CA) Foundation courses are open for Class 12 students who appeared for the board exams this year. According to the reports, the registration for the CA Foundation course is open. Due to postponed examinations and delayed results in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, CA Foundation relaxed the eligibility criteria of its courses as a one-time measure.
Students who are yet to appear for some papers of class 12 can also register for the CA Foundation course. Talking about the prevailing situation, ICAI stated that due to the outbreak of the COVID -19 pandemic, the CBSE/ ICSE/ State Boards’ Class 12 examinations that were scheduled for March 19 onwards are postponed. In view of the situation, the Competent Authority decided to relax the eligibility criteria for registering in the Foundation Course.
According to the official notification released by the authorities, candidates who have admit cards for class 12 board exams and those who appeared for one or more papers are eligible to register for the course. The CA Foundation exam is scheduled for June 27, 29 and July 1, 3.
Interested and eligible candidates are advised to visit the official website of ICAI i.e. https://www.icai.org and register online at https://eservices.icai.org/
The official notification also states that the candidates who will register provisionally can appear in November 2020 Foundation examination after passing the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination.
The 21-day lockdown in order to control the COVID-19 spread led to the postponement of a few board exams. The state boards will release the fresh dates for the pending exams once the lockdown ends.
