Pune University PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility and Selection
Candidates willing to get admission to PhD at Pune University must have the following eligibility qualifications:
- Master's degree or a professional degree equivalent to the master’s with at least 55% aggregate
- Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale
Pune University PhD admission is subject to an entrance exam conducted by SPPU, i.e. PhD Entrance Test (PET). However, those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from the university-conducted entrance exam.
The University admits candidates via a two stage process (for those willing to secure admission via PET):
Stage 1: PET
The entrance test is of 100 marks (consisting of 100 MCQs of one mark each) with 50% aggregate as qualifying marks. The test contains the following type of questions:

Yes, candidates seeking admission to Engineering and Technology courses at Savitribai Phule Pune University or its affiliated colleges are required to have a valid score in MHT CET exam conducted by DTE Maharashtra. Additionally, there are numerous courses, such as MCA, MMM, Advanced Diploma, MPH, E-MBA, LLM and M.Lib.I.Sc, among others, where the admission process is completely based on merit in the previous qualifying exam (Class 12 for UG admission and UG degree for PG admission). The university also accepts MAH CET, MAH MCA MET, CMAT/ CAT/ ATMA and other exams for admission to a number of courses offered at its campus or its affiliated colleges.
