COVID 19: How the pandemic has changed teaching methodology forever

3 mins readUpdated on Jan 7, 2021 12:12 IST

Coronavirus has severely affected everyone in the world. Coronavirus-led locks have led to the closure of schools, colleges, offices and travel services that have completely disrupted daily life. The education system in India is a multi-functional programme with more than 15 lakh schools and more than 50,000 institutions of higher learning. Locking has completely changed the whole state of education in the country.

Classroom learning has evolved into online classes with active engagement from students, teachers, professional teachers, and parents.

Collaborative efforts of parents & teachers

Parents have also become an active participant in this new study. Meetings between parents and teachers take place online, and parents can now easily track their children's progress through the e-connect system in schools.

Tests take place online, study materials are available online, and students and teachers continue to engage in weekly projects and assignments.

Social Media websites and apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Zoom, Telegram, and Google have become new places to share and access information.

Teachers and teachers are the first and most important students themselves. They have done very well and adapted to this process and the new process of learning with great honesty, confidence and integrity. Their relentless efforts have paved the way for a better future for students everywhere in India.

Ordinary online classes have been established in the current post-epidemic period. Too often, technology stood out as our friend, mentor, guiding angel, and support in these times of despair for mankind. Teachers do an amazing job of informing students about teaching, teaching, science and technology through online witch doctors. Many teachers have done a commendable job of creating a customised reading lesson for students to fill the gap in their subject in these unprecedented times.

Wide-reaching government initiatives

Government has taken positive steps to tolerate and promote this new education system. At intermediate and local levels, the government has taken steps to ensure that schools and colleges do not interfere during the ban. They have contributed to the uninterrupted education curriculum. The Department of Labor and Development (MHRD) has introduced many online provisions such as online portals. These educational channels are directly on home TV to make the educational process more efficient.

  • Swayam: It is a national online education platform containing more than 1,900 courses for both schools and higher education.
  • Swayam Prabha: It has 32 DTH TV channels that broadcast educational content throughout the day 24/7. These channels cover the curriculum for both school-level education (Class 9-12) and higher education (including student degrees, degrees, engineering, vocational training, and teacher training) in the fields of arts, commerce, science, technology, law, medicine, arts, and agriculture.
  • E-PG Pathshala: This website is designed for undergraduate students to access online courses and resources, essays and e-books.
  • Diksha: This site contains e-learning materials including video tutorials and worksheets for teachers, students and parents.

These websites have proven useful during closing and will also be useful in the coming days.

Changing times, new challenges

However, a new study session in the coming years will present new challenges. With the opening of schools and colleges and students and teachers returning to their classrooms, the old way of teaching tradition will change dramatically. There will be an adoption of new teaching methods, and new classroom rules will also apply.

The following are safety measures that schools and colleges can use when reopened to prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Strong evacuation policy within school and college premises
  • Mandatory wear of masks and hand sanitizer
  • New institutional accommodation plans, keep in mind the public nuisance
  • There will be safe drinking water facilities and hygiene standards in the canteen and laundry facilities
  • School buses and other means of transportation will ensure proper social confusion
  • Including auto sanitizing dispensers, full-body sanitzers, air sprayers, and top sprayers, steam steamers, infrared thermometers on campus based on technologies such as IoT, AI, thermal imaging and hearing, smoke fumes, electrostatic spray, etc.
