University Organises Webinar Session on Homa Therapy
November 2, 2020: On the occasion of Sharad Poornima, the School of Yoga at Shoolini University arranged a webinar on Yoga. The University invited Dr Barry Rathner from Ecovilllage Bhragu Aranya Southern Poland as the Subject Matter Expert for the session. He educated students on the concepts of ‘Homa Psychotherapy: Mind Conditioning to Increase Yoga and Withstand Pandemics’. It is also known as Sunrise/ Sunset Agnihotra and Homa Therapy. The therapy purifies and cleans the element of space from negative vibrations. As the other elements are put in space, it purifies the other elements as well. It brings clarity of mind, raises the amount of vitality and enhances – all wellbeing.
The session witnessed the active participation of over 100 students and faculty members from the School of Yoga.
Placements 2021 Begin at Shoolini University
October 28, 2020: After successful closure of 2020 placements season, Shoolini University is all set for 2021 placements session. The placements session for students graduating in 2021 has begun with Cognizant recruiting 66 BTech students and food company Nestle recruiting four students from the Food Technology department as Nutrition Officer.
Professor Nanda claimed that these accomplishments are the result of Shoolini's uniquely efficient and validated processes, which begin by helping students define their job interests, improving their soft and technical skills in the SPRINT 'accelerated learning programme, improving their skills and employability, etc. Shoolini 's versatility in rapidly transitioning to the online mode in training, assessment and recruiting processes was another crucial success factor this year. He said most of the placements activities were conducted online.
Shoolini University Inks MoU with Russian and Czech Universities to Facilitate Exposure to Students
October 8, 2020: Himachal-based Shoolini University recently entered into an agreement with Russia-based University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic and Synergy University, Moscow.
The agreement intends to bring global exposure opportunities to students through the student exchange programmes. Students at the college may take advantage of summer internships and scholarships for higher learning in these universities. It will also be necessary for the faculty to make use of the facilities for exchange programmes and to carry out collaborative studies.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Khosla said that this is a golden opportunity for students and faculty within the exchange programmes to learn and perform a high-quality study.
Shoolini University Announces the Start of Inter School Competition 2020
October 6, 2020: Following its legacy, this year also amid the global pandemic situation Shoolini University is all set to organise Q?riosity, an Annual Inter-School Quiz competition for higher secondary school students. The event is hosted by the Faculty of Management Sciences and Liberal Arts at the University. Students of Class 11 and 12 actively participate in the event every year and this year also the University has received the applications from over 200 students across the country. It will be a two-week virtual event.
There will be four rounds in total and one student per school will be allowed to participate. The quiz will comprise of critical thinking, aptitude and general knowledge-based questions. Winner will be awarded a cash prize of worth Rs 25,000 and a trophy while the first and second runners will be awarded a trophy each and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. E-certificates will be given to all the participants.
Shoolini University invited Former Ambassador to Canada and South Korea Vishnu Prakash and Ex-IAS officer Vivek Atray for the inauguration of the event and to motivate the students. The event aim at providing a fun, transparent and unbiased platform to students to compete and showcase their capabilities.
Shoolini University Ranks 3rd In Country for Filing Patents
September 24, 2020: Shoolini University brings another laurel to the family by becoming the third educational institution across the country and first in Himachal Pradesh to file highest number of patents between April 2018 and March 2019. Based on the recently reports released by the Office of Intellectual Rights, IITs took the top position in the list (all IITs have been grouped as one).
Although the document did not indicate the exact number of patents filed by various institutes, it did indicate the number of patents filed by each state. According to this report, between April 2018 and March 2019, Himachal Pradesh filed a total of 193 patents, of which record 185 were filed alone by Shoolini University.
Since its inception, the University has submitted 425 patents. Vice-Chancellor Professor PK Khosla congratulated the faculty and students on the achievement and mentioned that the rankings show the focus of the university on research study. The next step after the formal filing of patents is the publication of the patent and so far 211 of these patents have been published.
Literature Society Organises Literary Session on ‘If a dog could speak’
September 7, 2020: Belletristic, the Literature Society of Shoolini University that regularly organises virtual competitions, held a discussion on the topic, ‘If a dog could speak’. The University witnessed a large number of entries for the participation from various higher education institutions across the country. The best three stories were read out during the session and all finalists are given a big shout out.
The best entries belonged to Ishani, a young 15-year-old writer from Loretto, Shimla; Vamya, a third-semester student from PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana; and Professor Pratip Mazumdar, School of Hospitality, Shoolini University. Although focusing on the same subject, the approach and the analysis of all three stories were totally different in their own way.
Following the session was rapid questions and answers round by Dr Purnima Bali, Assistant Professor at the Department of English, after which another short-story competition with the theme of the pandemic lockdown was declared for young adults.
Shoolini University Organises Session on Security Against Cybercrimes
August 28, 2020: During the nationwide lockdown due to the global pandemic situation across the globe, the country has witnessed an immense increase in cybercrimes. Thus, to create awareness among students about security against such cybercrimes, the School of Law at Shoolini University organised a session on ‘Cybercrimes surge amidst lockdown’. The University invited Sandeep Dhawal, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crimes, Police Headquarters, Shimla to deliver a lecture on the subject. Dhawal shared several tips on how you can prevent identity thefts, create a safe password and take immediate action to be taken if an individual is cyber-attacked. He cautioned students against exchanging information about the bank account, credit card numbers, PIN or answering scrupulous appeals that were not requested or unauthorised. He added that any online advertising available to attract the attention of potential victims of cybercrimes should be avoided.
University Inks MoU with Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN) to Encourage Entrepreneurship
August 27, 2020: To encourage the startup ecosystem in Himachal Pradesh, Shoolini University recently entered into an agreement with Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN) to encourage and facilitate entrepreneurship among the youth.
On the same occasion, Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor PK Khosla launched a book titled Sociopreneur by Nandwani.
The CAN is a successful entrepreneurial group that has now become angel investors in India and is committed to supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and helping them to scale up their expertise. It focuses primarily on supporting startups at seed and growth stages and allows a variety of start-ups to validate their business model.
University Organises Series of Webinars Amid Coronavirus Pandemic; Invites Dignitaries from Hospitality Industry
August 14, 2020: As the country unlocks to a new normal, Shoolini University invited prominent industry professionals to interact with students with an aim to help them stay positive during the tough times of global pandemic. A total of 10 webinars were conducted with each facilitated by a prominent industry expert. These guests invited included:

University Inks MoU with FICCI Ladies Organisation to Encourage Entrepreneurial Skills Among Students
August 10, 2020: Himachal Pradesh-based Shoolini University recently entered into an agreement with the women wing of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) to provide entrepreneurs with a nurturing, enlightening and welcoming atmosphere through the crucial phases of startup. About 8,000 women entrepreneurs from throughout the country are a part of FLO.
The agreement is intended to shorten the time and cost of setting up and increase the chances of expansion of a startup.
FLO Amritsar will help put women entrepreneurs to the forefront and help more women profit from the facilities through its network. The study will first examine FLO members and incubates interested in and assist the incubator in organising mentoring programmes. It will also take part in workshops and seminars to encourage entrepreneurship. Shoolini University promises to provide consultants to all customer companies that hold daily and informal customer meetings to resolve strategic and tactical needs. It will help to get started with budgeting, taxation and reporting problems and revise the IP strategy.
Belletristic, The Literature Society at Shoolini University Organises Webinar on ‘The Writer’s Choice’
August 8, 2020: Department of English at Shoolini University invited famous Indian poet and author Padmashri Keki Daruwalla for an interactive session on ‘The Writer’s Choice’.
During the session, Keki referred to Dante's Divine Comedy, the Cantos of Inferno of his time favourite chapters, and even read some of his poems. He thought Naishapur to Babylon would be his last published book on poetry in 2018, however, pandemic-induced lockdown forced him to write another line. He acknowledged that the last few months of the lockdown made him turn seriously to classic writing. Keki also believes Dante deserves to be among the greatest authors in the world.
Keki has made a place for himself. Literary students frequently quote his verse, merging two contradicting careers that a cop and one a poet have done, agreeing with what Nissim Ezekiel once said, "Daruwalla has the strength of the lion".
Belletristic Friday’s aims at one to go back to the basics and re-discover the classics of literature, second is to spread the knowledge and passion for literature in the first place amongst young people who have fled books and writers because of many distractions, and third to build a forum where the young and the elderly engage significantly in Covid's difficult times.
Shoolini University Begins the Academic Session 2020
August 4, 2020: The new academic session of Shoolini University began on August 4, with online induction and orientation programme. A comprehensive description of the online education programme was given to the students. Vice-Chancellor PK Khosla introduced students to a new virtual skill development programme, SPRINT which will majorly drive focus on practical sessions. Particularly at this tough time of Covid-19, online learning will aim at enhancing communication and interaction among students to enhance their creativity skills.
In an interactive session with Pro-Vice-Chancellor Atul Khosla, he introduced students to the New Education Policy which will offer more flexibility to students in terms of choosing major and minor subjects. Practical sessions and exchange programme will begin as soon as the situation eases.
Meanwhile, Dr YS Parmar e-studio was inaugurated by Pro-Chancellor Satish Anand to commemorate the 114th anniversary of Himachal Pradesh’s Architect and first chief minister.
NIRF Ranking 2020: Shoolini University Ranks Among Top Two Universities in Himachal Pradesh
August 3, 2020: Based on NIRF ranking 2020, Shoolini University became one of the top two universities of Himachal Pradesh with 112th rank in the category of Engineering institutes countrywide. To celebrate this achievement, University has decided to offer cash awards to the students amid the global pandemic due to Coronavirus. Awards worth Rs 10,000 and 5,000 are applicable for students aspiring admissions in IITs and NITs respectively that rank higher than Shoolini University in the NIRF Ranking 2020.
Students, who enrol with Shoolini University through online admissions but subsequently get admission in IITs or NITs or Government Medical Colleges such as IGMC Shimla, are eligible to receive these financial rewards.
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shoolini University ranked 39 where the Management Sciences and Liberal Arts School bagged a position in 76-100 band.
During the tough times of the global pandemic also, the University continued to place students with the leading corporate recruiters that include Abott, Genpact, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. ICICI Bank, Cipla, BYJU’s, Nestle, and HDFC. University witnessed the highest package of Rs 15 LPA and the average package for MBA, BTech, and BPharm programmes stood at Rs 6.3 LPA, Rs 4 LPA, and Rs 3.5 LPA, respectively.
Shoolini University Inks MoU with Nine Corporates to Impart Quality Education to Students
August 1, 2020: With an aim to make students industry-ready and meet the demands of today’s corporate world, Shoolini University signed MoUs with nine leading recruiters from Biotechnology and Pharmacy industry to strengthen its corporate network. The initiative has been taken based on the importance of practical exposure for students. The companies include Minchys, Regal Kitchen foods limited, Rohini Biocare, Upkar Pharmaceuticals, Zumutor Biologics, Pharmexcil, Nectar Life Sciences Ltd and Symphony Tech Biologi.
As a part of this partnership, the students will get to spend six months practising their concepts learned in the first six months at the University on the curriculum created by these industry leaders. This will give students a great corporate exposure and also an idea of what the corporate world expects from them.

July 29, 2020: In a placement drive conducted online by the team of UPS, Inverter and Solar System manufacturer Microtek, 26 students from Shoolini University from the Engineering and Management domain were selected. The company has recruited 10 Mechanical Engineering, 8 Electronic Engineering, 6 MBA and 3 Civil Engineering students. The selections were based on the students’ performance in the online exam and interview sessions that were conducted by the Microtek team.
Microtek has planned an extensive expansion in Himachal Pradesh through new products and world-class production facilities. Looking at the knowledge and performance of students in the interview session, the company is also planning to sign a memorandum with the University for further mutual cooperation.
School of Law Launches Knowledge Sharing Series on International Criminal Justice Day
July 20, 2020: School of Law at Shoolini University celebrated International Criminal Justice Day by inviting Jurists, Advocates, Academicians and Corporates for an interview session on various legal topics such as Cybercrime, Fundamental Rights, Human Rights, Right to Health and many more. The initiative is named as ‘Knowledge Sharing Series’.
The first session of this series featured Canada-based Professor Sebastian Lafrance, who talked about ‘How similar are Indian and Canadian Laws’. He told the audience that, as there are various parallels in both countries, India and Canada seem to be long-lost siblings. The Canadian Constitution also guarantees the freedom of the citizens to be free as enacted in the Indian Constitution. He also added that an advance bail is exclusively issued under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), but not issued for in the Canadian Criminal Code (CCC). The death sentence is currently in force in the Code of Criminal Procedure and the IPC in India is also a point of difference because both countries do not allow for capital punishment under the Canadian Criminal Code.
After the first interactive session, Head of Law School Dr Nandan Sharma informed the audience about the upcoming episodes of ‘Knowledge Sharing Series’. Next in the series would be Himachal Pradesh High Court's Advocate Sarthak Mehta followed by Professor at Punjab University Chandigarh Devender Singh; Vice-Chancellor HPNLU Professor Nishtha Jaswal; New York-based Attorney Junaita Headley; and Managing Partner Obhan Associates Essenese Obhan.
Shoolini University Inks MoU With College Board’s India Global Higher Education Alliance
July 18, 2020: Shoolini University recently entered into an agreement with College Board’s India Global Higher Education Alliance (IGA) with an aim to bring more global opportunities to the students of the University.
The Alliance is a network of nearly 40 Indian universities that seek to promote the application and enrollment of all eligible Indian students in Indian universities, irrespective of gender, geography and social status to offer world-class education.
According to Vice-chancellor of Shoolini University Atul Khosla, the deal would make the University a base for SAT exams. He said that the signing of the MoU would bring tremendous benefits for the students of the university. SAT exam evaluates students’ readiness for the university. As part of the admission process, nearly every alliance member accepts SAT scores. This makes admissions for many Indian universities easier for applicants, and allows them to attract students within and outside India.
Department of English forms Literature Association “Belletristic: Shoolini Loves Literature Society”
July 15, 2020: The faculty and students from the Department of English at Shoolini University have formed a literature association called “Belletristic: Shoolini Loves Literature Society”. The aim of this society is to bring people together with the help of literature, to inculcate the love of literature among the young and the old, and to revive the passion for classics of all time. Belletristic has been making optimum use of technology and organising a lot of online curricular and co-curricular activities which have not just helped students pursue their academic goals but have also engaged them enough to cope with the stressful Covid-19 times.
Belletristic activities began with a nine-day virtual International Literature Seminar organised from May 15-30, where 40 delegates from five different countries presented their papers. This was followed by a virtual farewell for the outgoing batch of the English Department of Shoolini University in which the students showcased their talents through song, dance, and poetry as they bade farewell to their seniors. Belletristic has also been organising a Friday date every week for all literature lovers, inviting different speakers who share their insights on different topics and make learning an interesting and enjoyable experience.Shoolini University Invites Actress Dia Mirza for a Webinar Session on Conservation of Environment
July 13, 2020: Citing the importance of staying positive in these tough times of pandemic and lockdown, Shoolini University invited former Miss Asia Pacific and a famous Bollywood actress Dia Mirza to talk about the importance of conservation of the environment and how this can help in keeping your mind calm and relaxed.
In the interactive session with students, Dia shared her life experiences and the transition journey from being an introvert to an extrovert. Her habits of diary writing, interacting with nature and staying calm have filled her with positivity. She believes that letting things go and not holding back your negative emotions is the key. It helps in creating an environment of toxicity inside you, especially during the current situation of a global pandemic.
Replying to questions from students and faculty she replied, "I have never done anything out of obligation. I only do things that give me joy. It is my upbringing and values that were taught to me which makes me believe that the most uplifting actions in life are those which help others".
Selected as UN Ambassador of Goodwill for India, Dia Mirza championed the movement to combat plastic pollution. Her exhaustive list of titles includes founder member of Wildlife Trust of India's Club Nature, Ambassador Wildlife Trust of India, Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Mission's "Swachh Saathi" programme, Ambassador for Sanctuary Asia's Tiger Conservation - Kids for Tigers program, Member of the Governing Board of the Sanctuary Nature Foundation, and the first Indian Ambassador for Save the Children.
University Bags Two New Patents; Total Now Stands at 25
July 11, 2020: Himachal Pradesh-based Shoolini University was recently awarded two new patents by the Indian Patent Office (IPO). The University, which now holds 25 patents, has till date filed for over 415 patents. Of these, 415 are in the 'Published' stage while 11 are in 'Request for examination' stage. Another 20-25 patents is also in pipeline for filling.
Patent-filling is a three-year process and generally takes up to three years of time for completion. This process is broadly divided into three stages:
- Registration: This includes all initial level documentation
- Publication: After the patent documents have been registered, the IPO undertakes 18 months of cooling period time. After the cooling period, the registered patents are published in various research journals to verify the authenticity of the patent
- Request for examination: This is the final stage in the process where the technology is being tested and finally demonstrated to the authorities before the patent is finally granted
Shoolini University has its own dedicated IPR cell which is dedicated to encourage, protect, manage and commercialise Intellectual Property such as Patent, Copyright, Trademark, etc. generated through the university. The two patents recently granted were in the category of Design for ‘Solar Water Heater’ and ‘Solar-Nanomaterial Energy Storage’. The H-Index, which is based on research quality, has increased up to 60 as a further milestone for Shoolini. Not only is it the largest of the state universities, but it is also one of the best in the region.
Students of Shoolini University Bags Scholarships to Study Abroad
July 9, 2020: As a part of its association with various international universities, the Office of International Affair at Shoolini University gives an equal and fair opportunity to all its students to apply for scholarships at its partner universities. This year five students studying in different programmes and streams have been offered scholarships and opportunity to study abroad. Below are the details of scholarships offered:
- National Formosa University, Taiwan has offered Vanshika Abbhi a scholarship to pursue a two-year Master Degree in Biotechnology at $1,600 per semester
- National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan has offered Aanchal Thakur a scholarship to pursue a two-year Master Degree in Electrical Engineering at $1,800 per semester
- Avinash Rangra has been offered an opportunity to complete his four-year PhD Degree in Biotechnology at $2,000 per semester at Taipei Medical University, Taiwan
- University of Naples, Italy has selected Archita and Iffat for one-year Master Degree in Medical Biotechnology at Euro 20,000 per year
So far over 40 students have been offered such scholarships as a part of the MoUs signed between Shoolini University and international universities.

Vivek Atray, who is a retired IAS officer, a Mentor of the Vivek IAS Career Academy and Visiting Professor at Shoolini University, said the students at Shoolini University would benefit from this link. He also believes that a large number of potential students will be trained for a civil career as a result of this partnership.
University Organises International Virtual Symposium on International Yoga Day
June 18, 2020: The Faculty of Yogic Sciences at Shoolini University recently organised a two-day international symposium during the outbreak of Covid-19. The symposium witnessed the active participation of yoga experts from over half a dozen countries. Talking of the benefits of Yoga, Vice-Chancellor Professor P K Khosla said that, Yoga is important to attain spiritual energy and dedication to work. He is 80 years young and working regularly without any hitches because he practices meditation and Kriya Yoga every day for the past 28 years. The symposium was attended prominent dignitaries such as Advisor, Yoga and Naturopathy, Ministry of AYUSH and Director of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga Dr I V Basavaraddi; Founder of Yog Bharti Himachal Pradesh Nivas Murthy; HOD of Department of Yogic Science and Human consciousness, Suresh Lal Barnwal; and, Founder of Sarva Yoga International, Italy, Antonietta Rozzi.
Shoolini University Organises Series of Webinars Amid Lockdown
June 24, 2020: With the world facing the consequences of a global pandemic in the form of lockdown, Shoolini University used it as an opportunity to reach out to prominent leaders and experts and connect with them through webinars. In the last three months of nationwide lockdown, the University organsied over a hundred webinars for the faculty members and students and the teacher's community across the country. These webinars were hosted by Pro Vice-Chancellor Atul Khosla with an aim to create a platform for all to exchange ideas and enhance knowledge base.
Khosla has also hosted another successful series called Yogananda Virtual Guru series in which he invited Lt Governor of Puducherry Dr Kiran Bedi, famous cricketer Yuvraj Singh, famous Pakistan singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan and popular Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi for interaction.
Besides these, a series included several leading academicians and industry leaders. Around 40 webinars of this kind have been organised so far. In another series, ‘Expert Talks’ are called in which experts from different areas participate and talk to the public.
NIRF Ranks Shoolini University Among Top 150 Universities Across Country
June 15, 2020: Shoolini University of Bio-Technology and Management Sciences and Jaypee University of Information Technology have been ranked in the 101-150 band by Ministry of Human Resource Development’s NIRF rankings for 2020. The University has been placed in this bracket for the fourth year in a row. Its Pharmacy department ranked at 39, while the Management department was ranked between 76 and 100. The Engineering department of Shoolini University took the 112th position for the first time.
For the fourth consecutive year, though the rivalry intensified, Shoolini University Vice-Chancellor Prof. PK Khosla said it was inspiring to hold a slot in the top 150 universities. While thanking professors and students for their achievement, he said that in the coming years the University would continue to work even better.
All this could become possible because of the University’s initiatives and continuous practices to enhance the curriculum and make students more industry-ready.
University Organises a Three-day International Symposium on ‘Understanding the Pandemic and its Implications'
May 27, 2020: Faculty of Applied Sciences and Biotechnology Department at Shoolini University recently hosted a three-day international symposium on ‘Understanding the Coronavirus pandemic and its implications’. The University invited prominent academic and industry professionals to share their thoughts on the topic. Ashutosh Tiwari, from VBRI, Sweden highlighted the programmable cloud care nanosystems and nanodevices, and stressed that these innovations are, particularly in a country such as India, the future of healthcare. Dr Bikash Mehdi from PGIMER, Chandigarh, addressed the drug development of Covid-19 and how many medications and antivirals are used to prevent and cure Covid-19 infections.
The symposium addressed the value of mobile health devices, the immune-strengthening of food and its immunity-enhancing effects in our everyday lives.
Department of English Hosts 9-Day Virtual International Literature Seminar
May 25, 2020: Shoolini University recently concluded a nine-day virtual international literature seminar on the topic ‘A Century in Retrospect: Literary Signposts and Watersheds of the Last Hundred Years’. The seminar focussed on various aspects of poetry, drama, fiction and theory of the 20th Century. Over 40 delegates across five countries actively participated and presented their research papers.
The discussions began with traditional text writers such as WB Yeats and TS Eliot who discussed the vast range of literature and ended with Edward Said and Simone de Beauvoir's work. Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Shoolini University, Atul Khosla invited all the delegates to the campus in real-time and assured all possible help. All the participants were satisfied with the literary tour they encountered during the nine-day period.
University Receives Grants from Microsoft for Research on Coronavirus
May 15, 2020: Microsoft Artificial Intelligence has granted Shoolini University rights to conduct research on finding drugs to cure and prevent Covid-19. The team of scientists will be led by Dr Gurjot Kaur, Associate Professor of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who will also have access to licensed Microsoft Azure for a period of six months and other resources such as online platform and virtual machines to perform work. The team will conduct the much-needed screening of phytochemical components for anti-viral activity by interacting with different objectives of Covid-19 using molecular modelling studies. Indian medicinal herbs have the same or similar phytoconstituents and are promising as anti-Coronavirus drugs.
The extended lockdowns are not a viable solution to contain the spread of Coronavirus for the long term but investing in medicinal drugs both for prophylaxis as well as treatment of patients is. Many combinations of drugs have been tried so far with a hope to contain the spread of this novel virus but nothing seems to be promising. Hence, Shoolini University extends all its possible support to cure and stop the spread of the virus.
University Launches Scientific Writing Cell
April 29, 2020: The quality of patents, paper and research is the topmost priority for any research-based university. Considering the same requirement, Himachal-based Shoolini University has launched the Scientific Writing Cell to help students and faculty members publish their papers without the worry of logical, grammatical or typological errors, improving the quality of research manifold.
The cell aims at providing technical expertise for effective dissemination of test findings, publishing of an article or number of references to the document. Technical writing experts work closely with scholars to help them write quality research papers or documents that get cited and attracts funding proposals.

University Receives Amazon Web Services (AWS) Accrediation
April 25, 2020: Solan-based Shoolini University received the Amazon Web Services (AWS) accreditation and is now a member of AWS Academy. The University is one few institutions in India and only one in Himachal Pradesh to receive this accreditation. The University is now all set to offer Cloud Computing-based programmes and specialisations to aspiring students.
The programme is structured to follow the specifications and latest trends of the industry. It will train students to make up a brilliant workforce. Shoolini University is offering these courses for free of cost to engineering and management students and later the same will be made available to students of other courses also. This certification will act as a value addition to students’ profile.
Shoolini University Inks MoU with US' Houston University to Impart Quality Education
April 20, 2020: Shoolini University recently got in to an agreement with a century-old US-based Houston University with an aim to impart quality education to students of both the universities. Under the agreement, Shoolini University can send five of its graduate students every year to Houston University to be a part of their gradate PhD programme. The students will be evaluated and approved by Houston University a year in advance.
The students will be offered stipend in the first year and fellowships subsequently as per the rules of the University. This agreement would benefit selected students and will open up bright prospects for them on global level.
Shoolini University contributes Rs 5 lakh to CM’s relief fund
April 1, 2020: Himachal Pradesh-based Shoolini University has donated Rs 5 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for those adversely affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. The University's entire faculty and staff donated their one day salary to Rs 5-lakh fund, excluding daily paid workers. The Foundation for Life Sciences and Business Management (FLSBM) is the trust that manages the University has promised to donate the remainder of the sum.
While making the announcement of this donation, Vice Chancellor Khosla said that the University is open for all kind of support that the government desires during this difficult time. University has been providing free food and shelter to all the labour and daily paid workers. Apart from this, the University is also taking care of over 200 students who are staying at the hostels. Till the time lockdown continues, the classes are being conducted online using e-Univ system and other social media platforms.
University Launches Virtual Classrooms
March 18, 2020: With an idea to not interrupt the lectures in the University because of the outbreak of Corona Virus, Shoolini University has introduced a platform to deliver lectures online. The faculty and students will be able to connect through the internet in real-time. The virtual classrooms will be similar to real classrooms where students will be able to ask questions and get answers in real-time. Fortunately, for the last six months, researchers at the University have been focusing on the online learning program which is an extended version of E-Univ programme. Under this programme, lectures will be capsulated and students will be able to view them anytime later. This system also has the provision of conducting examinations in secure environment.
University Invites Head of IIM-B’s Indo Japan Study Centre to Deliver Lecture on Leadership
March 7, 2020: Shoolini University invited Head of IIM Bangalore’s Indo Japan Study Centre Dr Sandeep Ratnam to deliver lecture on leadership behaviour. The lecture was intended for students of the Mechanical Engineering department. Dr Ratnam discussed about Eisenhower Matrix that helps planning daily schedule for time management. For students to learn and experience practical exposure, the institute has also started Regional Centre of Excellence of Visionary Learning Community of India (VLCI). They work on the live issues of the industries in Solan and Parwanoo regions. It is VLCI's first batch to graduate in June 2020. Students are all set to improve production efficiency of industry they join by eliminating or reducing the waste.
A Workshop on Quality and Maintainance
March 4, 2020: To explain the concepts and importance of six sigma to final year Mechanical Engineering students, Shoolini University organised a one day workshop on ‘Quality and Maintenance in Industry’. The workshop was facilitated by the faculty and management team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The students were also introduced to the maintenance and calibration of measurement instruments. DGM Anand Group, Ratnakar Acharya explained the maintenance schedule and its significance for machinery in the industry. This workshop aimed to help students prepare well for the placements process. The university has always been known for its initiatives and efforts to prepare students well for tomorrow.
Shoolini University Celebrated National Science Day
February 29, 2020: Shoolini University organised a science quiz competition to celebrate National Science Day. The topic was ‘Nobel Laureate Galleries in Shoolini University’. The quiz was organised by faculty of Pharmacy Department and Science. Questions for the quiz were based on Nobel Laureates such as C.V. Raman, Har Gobind Khorana and Subrahmanyan Chandrashekhar. The quiz was open to all the students of the university. Students from the Chemistry depratment won the quiz and were awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Other participants were awarded certificates.
Looking at the success of the event, the University has decided to organise the event annually.
Shoolini University Organises International Seminar
February 24, 2020: Shoolini University invited prominent delegates from USA, Poland, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh to facilitate day long international seminar on Stories Across Borders. The seminar aimed at discussing various aspects of literature to cut through the barriers of time and space. Senath Walter Perera, Senior Professor of English at Peradeniya University in Sri Lanka, spoke of exoticism and Sri Lankan expatriation story. Providing suitable examples from three texts, the captivating and thought-provoking talk explored the strategic ways in which authors based in Canada, England and Australia employed exoticism for multifarious literary purposes. Other delegates also shared their similar experiences.
February 17, 2020: Solan-based Shoolini University has been ranked as best university in Himachal Pradesh as per new Nature Index rankings. The Nature Index is an author's affiliated information collected from research papers published in a selected group of 82 high-quality scientific journals. The Nature Index provides a high-quality research output and collaboration at global, national and regional level close to the real-time proxy.
Shoolini University was ranked 19th out of the 100 leading institutions across the country. In Physical Sciences, it has been ranked 53rd and 73rd in all other subjects across country.
Based on published articles, the Nature Index offers perception on quality research. It is intended to provide one of a number of methods to assess research excellence and institutional performance. Adding to it, Vice-Chancellor P K Khosla said, “It is the result of continuous efforts for excellence in research”.
University Offers AWS Academy Cloud Computing Curriculum
February 11, 2020: Keeping in mind the increasing demand of cloud computing professionals, Himachal Pradesh-based Shoolini University has joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) academy to offer students from engineering and management department access to free of cost courses in cloud computing. This academy offers higher education institutions with cloud computing curriculam that is ready to teach. Students will be able to enroll for industry-recognised AWS certification courses from next semester onwards. Upon completion of programme, student can take and pass AWS Certification examination and will become AWS Certified.
Shoolini University Founder VC P K Khosla honoured by Panjab University
November 29, 2019: Founder Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University P K Khosla has been honoured by Panjab University for his remarkable contributions to forestry and the University. The honour was conferred on him during the Global Gala Alumni Meet held at the University campus. Khosla accepted the award and he wished to present it to his teachers and to the staff and students of the University of Shoolini.
He has been awarded “The Seth Memorial award- Society of Tree Scientists” for his excellent achievements in forest.
University inks 10 MoUs on 10th Foundation Day
October 16, 2019: Shoolini University signs 10 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to celebrate its 10th Foundation Day. The idea behind these strategic alliances was to facilitate students with pool of opportunities and to get a broader aspect of global education. The MoUs were signed with universities such as Cankiri Karatekin University, Turkey, Taiwan Economic and Cultural Centre, Eastern Institute Technology, New Zeland, Kardan University of Afghanistan, Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Nigeria, Jenderal Soedirman University, Indonesia, Texas College of Management, Nepal, and Drabya Shah Multiple Campus Nepal. Khosla added that they wish to make this University a residential complex over next five years. And, soon the University will come up with 30 new courses and a Cancer research centre.
