NMAT Selection Criteria for NMIMS: SVKMs NMIMS releases admission handout mentioning the NMAT selection criteria for MBA admissions. As many as five NMIMS campuses participate in offering 1740 MBA seats across different specialisations. NMIMS MBA admission process comprises two broad steps, including registration for NMAT by GMAC, and registration for NMIMS. To register for NMIMS, candidates will require the NMAT registration number. Besides NMIMS, NMAT exam is conducted for admission to more than 45 MBA colleges across India. NMIMS PI shortlist is prepared based on the sectional and total scores in the MBA entrance exam. Additionally, the final admission offer is based on cumulative performance in different parameters, including the performance in NMAT, personal interview, NMIMS Aptitude Test, work experience and past academic records.

Q:   When is NMAT cutoff released?

A:

NMAT cutoff scores are released by the participating institutes during its admission process. Candidates have to apply for the desired b-school. Some of these institute may or may not release the NMAT cutoff scores. Candidates must refer to the official website of the desired b-school to know about the cutoff scores.

The overall NMAT cut-off level generally remains between 150-280. More than 40 B-Schools across India and 20+ international B-schools accept NMAT scores for MBA admission. the cutoff scores and percentile changes across participating b-schools. Additionally, some colleges may seek admission based on sectional as well as overall cutoff scores, while some may only consider the overall cutoff.

A:

NMIMS SBM Mumbai MBA admission is done based on merit in NMAT exam. Thus, it is necessary that the aspirants secure a valid score in the exam to take admission. Further, as per last year's trends, the overall NMAT cutoff score for NMIMS Mumbai can be expected to be around 212. Q:   What is meant by NMAT cutoff?

A:

NMAT cut off score is the minimum score or marks required for shortlisting the candidate for admission or admission rounds. In simple words mean, the cutoff scores help in the screening process by which candidates can be shortlisted for further selection rounds, including the Group Discussion (GD)/Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview. The cut-offs list is determined by each participating college; therefore the minimum marks/ percentage required to for selection differs across different participating institutes.

NMIMS Admission Process 2025: Critical Steps

Candidates aspiring for MBA admissions at SVKMs NMIMS have to follow the following steps:

1st Step: Register for NMAT by GMAC

As the first step for NMIMS MBA admission, candidates have to apply for NMAT exam from the official website, mba.com. The registration fee for NMAT exam is to be paid to schedule the exam. Candidates can appear for NMAT exam on a date within the test window as per their convenience. Additionally, candidates have the flexibility to appear for the NMAT exam three times during the test window. However, NMIMS will only consider the NMAT score in the first attempt. Therefore, candidates who are applying for NMAT to get NMIMS admission can skip the retake exams, that is two attempts after one main attempt.

2nd Step: Register for NMIMS

To fill the NMIMS MBA admission form on the university website, nmims.edu, candidates must have the NMAT registration number. The registration fee for NMIMS MBA admission is to be paid separately while filling the NMIMS admission form. The NMAT 2022 Cutoff for NMIMS Hyderabad MBA, General-All India Category was 220. The NMAT cut-off 2023 is expected to range between 220 to 248 for admission to NMIMS Hyderabad MBA.

Q:   Will GMAC release NMAT cutoff?

A:

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the conducting body of NMAT exam, do not release the NMAT cutoff scores or percentile. The cutoff scores are released by the NMAT participating institutes at the time of the admission process. For NMAT exam conducted from October 10 to December 19, the MBA admission process at participating b-schools typically start from the month of November. While some b-schools also conduct the NMAT based MBA admission process from the month of February in the subsequent admission cycle.

Q:   Why is NMAT sectional cutoff required?

A:

The sectional cutoffs are used by B-schools to assess a candidate's strengths as well as weaknesses in different areas. Information based on the NMAT sectional cutoff can help institutes to make more informed decisions about admissions. The sectional cutoffs helps ensure all candidates who are admitted to a B-school have a strong base in all of the areas that are critical for success in an MBA programme.

The sectional cutoffs change from year to year. Sectional cutoff for NMAT depends on several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, among other factors.

A:

NMIMS Mumbai admission to the MBA course is based on NMAT 2023 scores. The latest NMAT 2023 scores will be out only after the exams are conducted. Candidates seeking admission to NMIMS must have a valid NMAT score. A:

NMAT participating institutes decide the cutoff scores for admission and to shortlist candidates for admission rounds. Several factors, including the previous year's cutoff scores, total applicants, total seats, candidate's performance, among other factors helps in deciding the cutoff scores.

Typically, the participating institute shall decide the NMAT cutoff marks based on the number of seats, total applicants, and previous year's cutoff scores. The cutoff score may change based on demand-supply principle. More number of applications will lead to higher cutoff score. NMIMS Personal Interview

The GD round will be followed by the Personal Interview round of NMAT selection process where three to four interviewers will ask each candidate a list of questions. The panel will ask the candidate questions from management, current affairs and events from across the world.

In the Personal Interview round of NMAT selection process, panelists will judge students in the following criteria:

NMIMS PI Shortlist

SVKMs NMIMS releases the NMIMS PI shortlist based on the scores of the candidates in the NMAT by GMAC. SVKMs NMIMS releases call letters to shortlist candidates for personal interview rounds.

NMIMS Written Ability Test (Scrapped)

The Written Ability Test was considered an important round of the NMAT selection process. In the Written Ability Test, candidates will be tested on their writing and communication skills. For the written test, candidates were given a topic to write a short essay within 15-20 minutes.

In the Written Ability Test round of NMAT selection process, the key criteria on which candidates will be given scores include-

Once the second round of NMAT selection process is complete, selected candidates will have to complete formalities related to admission before a stipulated date. For this, students will require the following documents.

Another option for those scoring low in CAT exam is applying to non-IIM. Many B-Schools like SPJIMR, IIM DELHI, lal bahadur sastri institute of management accept CAT score between 80-90 percentile. these institutes rank above some of the IIM in the NIRF - MHRF's ranking list.
