KiiT-IS Model United Nations (MUN) inaugurated on August 10
The eighth edition of the KiiT-IS Model United Nations (MUN) was inaugurated on August 10, 2019.
Students from various schools of the country and abroad, representing the member countries of UN, will discuss and debate on burning issues of the world during the three-day submit from August 10 – 12.
This year, keeping in mind the response to the MUN, the Organising Committee, comprising mostly of students from the international baccalaureate diploma program, opened ten councils instead of the usual six to justify the relevance of various national and global issues, keeping the sustainable development goals in mind, with a special council on climate change. Another key aspect of the theme is inclusivity.TStudents from various schools of the country and abroad, representing the member countries of UN, will discuss and debate on burning issues of the world during the three-day submit from August 10 – 12.
They will also get an opportunity to know the working of various UN agencies. Over 700 student delegates from 50 schools across India are attending the program. Besides, student delegates from five countries have also joined the MUN. Model United Nations develops statesmanship and leadership qualities among the students. Students get opportunity to know the various issues of the world and the member countries of the UN and how to solve the global problems through mutual understanding, harmony and peace among them.
Dr. Sanjay Suar, Principal, KiiT International School and Ms. Nandita Mishra spoke on the occasion. Prajwala Patil, was nominated as Secretary General of KiiT International School Model United Nations. The valedictory session of the KiiT-IS MUN is on the 12th August. Mr Keshav Gupta, representative of Dais, and executive Board member also addressed the delegation and encouraged them to make the most of this MUN experience. Ruhin Gharai, Deputy Secretary General spoke about the sustainable development goals and role of youth in creating and adopting a sustainable way of life.
