Though there have been reports that engineering colleges under Karnataka’s Vivesvaraya Technological University (VTU) will reopen on July 26 and students will be given an option to attend classes between offline and online mode, the university authorities are yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.

When contacted, Special Officer, VTU, said, “We are yet to issue a circular regarding opening of engineering colleges under VTU. We will make an official announcement on it on Monday/Tuesday. We will also be holding semester exams in offline mode and have not yet decided how will these be held. The exams will be conducted with open choice question papers for the regular and backlogs subjects as a onetime measure to cope up with the difficulties faced by the students during the present situation of Covid-19 pandemic.”

The VTU had on July 14 issued a notice regarding submission of online application forms for the exams to be held in July/August 2021. As per the circular, applications were to be approved by July 20 and exam hall ticket were to be released by July 23 and the fee should be paid by July 26. Check out the circular below.

Meanwhile, members of NSUI Davangere District Committee had on July 20 protested against the VTU authorities demanding the cancellation of the scheduled exams of BTech, M Tech, BE and MCA. They wrote on Twitter, "It is unfair to the students amidst this pandemic." The NSUI Mangalore district president and other activists were recently detained pertaining to a massive protest organised in Mangalore against the scheduling of exams by VTU and other universities amidst the pandemic.
