In a conversation with Shiksha.com, experts at Amity University, Gwalior talk in detail about their five year BA LLB programme that is aimed to offer a plethora of opportunities to students in their career ahead. They elaborate on the detailed admission process, selection criteria, eligibility criteria, scholarships and placements. Experts also talked about Amity University’s state-of-art infrastructure that includes Moot Courts, which facilitate students to practice in a real-time environment.

Q: What is the admission and selection process for admission to BA LLB at Amity University, Gwalior?

A: For admission to five year BA LLB programme at Amity University, Gwalior, a student must have cleared Class 12 exams with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in any stream from a recognised board or equivalent.

The eligible students can apply for admission online by filling up an online application form on the university’s official website before July 15. Eligible students can pay an application fee of Rs 1,100 at the time of filling up the online application form.

The final selection is done on the basis of the student’s overall profile.

Q: What is the scope of BA LLB in India?

A: BA LLB in India has a wide scope. Students pursuing a degree in Cyber Law can look for a career in Intelligence departments of police or can also pursue advocacy in Cyber Laws. Apart from this, students can also join the corporate industry as legal managers or legal assistants.

Also, they can choose to apply in government departments that have positions for legal managers. A lot of our students have been selected in Judiciary. Some of them are also practising in the Supreme Court and high courts.

Q: What are the initiatives taken to make students industry-ready?

A: Apart from the regularly updated curriculum, we also focus on:

  • Regular holding of National Moot Court Competitions, Intra Moot Court Competitions, Model United Nations (MUN),  Debates on current legal issues, Students Seminars, Interactive sessions with the students, QUIZ competition etc.
  • Educational tours to Supreme Court, Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhawan, High Courts, Indian Law Institute etc.

Amity University, Gwalior is also a member of the Legal Literacy Club which is monitored by the Supreme Court through Concerned High Court and District Court. This gives them the experience of working with real law cases.

Q: What is the total fee for the five-year BA LLB program? Do you also offer a three-year LLB program?

A: The total fee for the five-year BA LLB programme is Rs 5.01 lakh. We also offer a three-year LLB programme to graduate students. The fee for the same is Rs 2.85 lakh.

Students also have the opportunity to avail scholarships upto 100 per cent basis their merit performance

Q: Is this a residential programme? If yes, what is the fee for hostel facility?

A: Yes, it’s a residential programme as Amity University, Gwalior offers on-campus accommodation facilities to out station students. The fee for the same is Rs 55,000 per year. Students willing to opt for College mes will have to pay an additional amount of Rs 3,500 + taxes per month.

Q: Can you share some recent placement trends?

A: At Amity University, we believe our success is defined by our students being able to make a bright career in the industry. Every year a lot of corporate leaders actively participate in the placement season. This includes AMC Law Firms, Arpit Batra and Associates, ASC Solicitors Delhi, Advoc India Ltd. Delhi, Software Freedom Law Centre India (SFLC.in), Pramata Knowledge Solutions, Quislex Legal and My Advo. In the last placement season, we have witnessed a highest package of Rs 12 LPA offered to students whereas the average package stood at Rs 5 LPA.

Apart from this, a lot of our students also get selected in the judiciary, some of them choose to practice in Supreme Court and high courts as well. 

Q: For a law student, it has become very important to practice moot court sessions these days. Do you also facilitate that?

A: We understand the need of ‘Learning while doing’ and hence, we also organise various moot court training sessions during the course. We also conduct various intra and inter-moot court competitions and also encourage our students to participate in moot court competitions at other colleges, too. This is important for their personal exposure.

Q: Why should a student choose Amity University, Gwalior for BA LLB program over any other Law institute across the country?
