IIT-Delhi unveils artificial intelligence DIY kit for school students

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a do-it-yourself (DIY) kit titled BUDDHI. The kit has been developed by a deep technology startup nurtured by IIT Delhi. The purpose of the kit is to familiarise school students with artificial intelligence in a simplified manner. V Ramagopal, IIT Delhi director launched the toolkit. It has been designed by CYRAN AI Solutions. BUDDHI Kit is a unique collaborative and easy to use DIY educational kit that can be used to quickly learn the basics of AI and build AI-based solutions for real-world problems without any prior domain knowledge or training, as per the startup.

The brainchild behind the BUDDHI kit is Professor Manan Suri from IIT Delhi. Earlier, he was recognised as one of the world’s top 35 innovators under the age of 35 by MIT, USA. The kit consists of specialised proprietary hardware-software designed and developed completely in India. Recently, IIT Delhi had decided to encourage its faculty along with students to build startups. To build this innovation, Suri took two years and he believes this kit can help assuage the skill gap between AI theory and practical impact. The purpose behind BUDDHI is to aid young school students learn the practical facets of a complex topic like AI in a friendly and easy manner.

The motivation behind BUDDHI is to help young school students learn the practical aspects of a complex topic like AI in a friendly and simple manner. The institute holds that the toolkit is well-matched with CBSE’s AI curriculum. An inspired module of 12 hours for class 8 students was introduced by the CBSE. Overall, 42 electives consisting of AI, yoga, early childhood education were presented.
