Q:   How tough is the entrance exam of IIM, Indore for IPM?

A:
IPM is considered one of India's the toughest exams, with a low success rate. You can expect 20-30 thousand students taking IPMAT to compete for just 150 seats this year. This means only 0.75% of students will clear the exam to study at IIM, indicating competition and the difficulty level of the exam. The aptitude test has two sections- Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. Although the aptitude test is based on basic high school mathematics, the English language and logical reasoning. The exam tests your aptitude, analytical and quantitative skills, data interpretation and logical reasoning skills more than it being a memory-based test! Making it quite a challenging exam to crack.

Q:   What is the sectional time limit in IPMAT?

A:

The IPMAT exam is conducted for two hours or 120 minutes. The exam is conducted every year in the computer-based test mode. There are three sections in the IPMAT question paper, I. e. two sections on Quantitative Aptitude and one section on Verbal Ability. Each section is to be solved within 40 minutes. Since IPMAT is a centre-based online exam the test screen will move from first section to the next section automatically as soon as the time limit gets over. Thus candidates have to be mindful of the on-screen timer and pre-decide the number of questions to solve in each section. It is not mandatory to solve all the questions in IPMAT exam so candidates can devise a strategy to use 40 minutes per section as per their strength and weakness. Candidates must also keep in mind the negative marking in the IPMAT exam. One mark will be deducted from the overall score for each incorrect answer.

Q:   How should I manage the sectional cut-off of IPMAT?

A:

To manage the sectional cut-off of IPMAT, it's important to understand the exam pattern, which consists of three sections: Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and Logical Reasoning. To clear the sectional cut-off, you need to score well in each section. Identify your strong areas among the three sections and focus on improving your performance in those areas. Manage your time effectively during the exam, allocating time for each section based on your strengths and weaknesses. Regularly practice questions from each section to improve your skills and speed. Stay calm and confident during the exam, and analyze your performance after taking practice tests to identify your weak areas and work on improving them. Q:   Is IPMAT more difficult than SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test)?

A:

Comparing the difficulty level of IPMAT and SET can be subjective and depends on various factors such as individual strengths, preparation, and familiarity with the exam pattern.

IPMAT, conducted by IIM Indore, is specifically designed for admission to the five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM). It assesses a candidate's aptitude and proficiency in areas such as Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. The exam is known for its challenging and analytical nature, testing the candidate's problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and time management abilities. Also, the QA section is a slightly tricker than the QA section of the SET exam.

On the other hand, the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to various undergraduate programs offered by different institutes under the Symbiosis umbrella. The difficulty level of SET can vary depending on the specificprogrammeyou are applying for. The exam generally focuses on testing a candidate's knowledge, logical reasoning, analytical ability, and general awareness.

Both IPMAT and SET have their unique exam patterns, sections, and syllabi. The difficulty level of these BBA entrance exams can vary based on the individual's strengths and weaknesses in different subjects. Some candidates may find IPMAT more challenging due to its analytical and problem-solving nature, while others may find SET more difficult based on the specific sections and topics covered.

It's important to note that the difficulty level of an exam should not solely determine your decision to appear for it. Consider factors such as your interests, career goals, and the specificprogrammeor institute you wish to pursue. Focus on your preparation, understand the exam pattern and syllabus, and develop a study strategy that suits your strengths and weaknesses to perform well in the exam.

Q:   Can I crack IPMAT exam if I have not studied maths in 12th? What level of maths is there in IPMAT exam?

A:

Cracking IPMAT without having Maths in Class 11 and Class 12 can be very challenging and difficult. It is so, because higher level Maths dominates the entire exam. More than 60% of all the numerical are from Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. You can't give this exam with your basic preparation and learning of basic maths studied upto Class 10. You should consider taking coaching which can clear the basics of higher maths. You will learn tips of solving questions and approaching them. Coaching too might not help much unless you want to badly crack this exam, have interest in Maths, concepts studied till Class 10 are clear and you are determined to practice hard. There are two sections of the 'numerical ability' : MCQ, Short answer type. 'Short answer type' section includes questions which will have no options with them. You have to solve and write the solution yourself. This new addition in the exam was introduced a few years back, making it more difficult for students.

IPMAT One Month Preparation Tips

As mentioned before, the IPMAT is a highly competitive exam and a difficult one too. Many students who plan to appear for the exam usually start their preparations at least six months in advance. To prepare for IPMAT in one month, one needs a systematic approach. Students need to devise a timetable or a study routine to cover the important topics of the IPMAT exam and follow it diligently. For instance, the Quantitative Ability section is concept-driven, so while preparing for it, the focus should be on understanding and memorizing the concepts and formulae thoroughly. On the other hand, the Verbal Ability section is practice-based, hence the more one practices sample questions and mock tests the better their grip will be on this section.

IPMAT one-month preparation plan must include practicing sample papers and taking multiple IPMAT mock tests. The IPMAT mock tests will help the students manage time effectively and also identify weak areas. While self-study plays a crucial role, many toppers also emphasize the importance of coaching or mentorship. Having a structured curriculum or access to teachers who can clarify doubts can be beneficial. Students should refer to quality study material but it is also important to avoid using too many resources, which can lead to confusion and overwhelm.
