While CBSE spoke up on the fee hike issues, it is yet to comment on the criticism it is facing against the conduction of the CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th board exams.
A Director of the Central Board of Secondary Education on June 18, 2020, stated that for the proper education of children, there is a need for cooperation between parents and school management. His statement came in the midst of growing discontent among parents of various private schools over, what they claim, irrational fees charged even during the outbreak of COVID-19. During the CII organised e- session on education, CBSE's Training and Skills Director Biswajit Saha said, “Parents and school management must cooperate and complement each other for the sake of their child's education as someday schools are bound to open.”
Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, almost all of the teaching-learning process is taking place online. However, it is alleged that several private schools are charging various fees other than tuition fee, which cannot be applicable as institutes are closed during the lockdown and only limited virtual classes are being taken.
According to the reports, MP Locket Chatterjee and members of the teachers' cell of the BJP demonstrated outside the state education department office, demanding that private schools be asked not to charge any fee for the entire lockdown period that began in the middle of March. She further added that several states have directed private schools to reduce or exempt fees but the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal has only asked the institutes to refrain from hiking fees.
While CBSE spoke up on the disagreements happening between school management and parents, it is yet to speak up on the criticism it is facing for conducting CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th board Exams. According to the latest reports, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank urging the ministry to cancel the scheduled CBSE Class 10 Board Exams and CBSE Class 12 Board Exams.
Earlier, Mr Pokhriyal stated that the CBSE 10th, 12th Exams will be conducted as per schedule i.e. between July 1 and July 15. Talking about the release of CBSE 10th Results 2020 and CBSE 12th Results 2020 he said that the CBSE Board Results 2020 will be released almost a month after the conduction of the pending CBSE exams i.e. around August 15.
