The latest CBSE notification contains full details about how to change exam centre for the pending CBSEClass 10 Board Exams 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2020, eligibility criteria for the CBSE exam centre change, the process to be followed, guidelines and last dates for all the work.
The CBSE board exams 2020 postponed by three months due to the COVID-19 lockdown and will now be conducted from July 1 to July 15. In order to conduct the pending CBSE Board Exams, CBSE released a notification on June 2 informing students that the pending CBSE board exams would be held in the home schools of students itself instead of the allotted exam centres.
Moreover, the Board is also giving facility to CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th students who are now living in locations far away from their schools due to having shifted locations before the COVID-19 lockdown. Such students can now opt for a different exam centre than the one they were allotted.

On May 20, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that students would be able to change their CBSE board exam centres for the pending CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams 2020 in order to ensure safety, but CBSE released the detailed official notification with all the dates and procedures on June 2. The revised CBSE Class 10 date sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 date sheet 2020 was released on May 18.

CBSE Board Exams 2020: Eligibility criteria for CBSE exam centre change
The latest CBSE notification listed the important eligibility criteria for CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th students who want to change their exam centre after moving districts.
Regular candidates
- Following category of regular candidates who have shifted from their district of school to some other district in India will be eligible to make request for change of exam centre:
- Students who were residing in hostels
- Students sponsored by state governments
- Students who have shifted from the district of their school to some other district within India
Private candidates
Private candidates who have shifted from their district of examination centre to some other district in India can also make a request to change their exam centre
How to change exam centre for CBSE board exam 2020
Regular candidates
- CBSE students need to make exam centre change requests through their own schools and not in any other way
- It is the school’s responsibility to contact the student and know their location and then send the requests to CBSE
- It is also the student’s responsibility to inform the school of the same
- Schools will use the e-pariksha portal to provide information; all information has to be uploaded in one lot and the submission link once closed will not be opened again
- Certain districts in India without any CBSE affiliated schools will not gave any exam centres. Check the full CBSE notification to find the list.
- Students who are now in districts with no exam centre because of the above point will need to find a suitable neighbouring district to appear for their exams from and inform the same to their school.
Private candidates
Candidates appearing for second change compartment, failures of previous year, improvement of performance, additional subject, female candidates of NCT of Delhi, visually impaired candidates appearing as private candidates and Patrachar Vidyalaya candidates who have shifted from their district of examination centre to any other district in India can also apply to CBSE on the CBSE website or on the mobile app to change their district.
Candidates who have moved to another country
Candidates who were studying India and have shifted to other countries, if they so desire, can appear for the CBSE board exams from any district of India.
These candidates will also need to make a request to their own school.
No examination in other countries will be conducted by CBSE for such candidates.
CBSE helpline number
Students can call the CBSE helpline number 1800-11-8002 between 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days if they have any query.
According to the revised CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Date Sheet 2020, the Board would be conducting CBSE Board Exam 2020 from July 1 to July 15, 2020, in 15000 centers across the country. Earlier the Board decided to conduct the examination in only 3000 centers. The decision is taken to ensure social distancing at exam centers and minimize travel for students. The Board is expected to announce CBSE 10th Result 2020 and CBSE 12th Result 2020 by July-end.
